Share Your Input

2022 continues to be a busy and exciting time for the design of 325 Blake Road. Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, City of Hopkins, developer Alatus, and project partners are refining designs inspired by community engagement hosted in summer and fall 2021.

Curious to see the current designs for transforming this former industrial site into a vibrant space where people and nature thrive together and provide your ideas for site interpretation and amenities?

Read below for information on a virtual meeting hosted by MCWD this evening, Monday January 24th.

Attend Virtual Meeting This Evening (January 24th)

This evening, Monday January 24th (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM), MCWD will host a virtual public meeting to present updated designs for its stormwater and Greenway project. We will also seek input from the community on project components like water access, seating, educational signs, and bike facilities. These latest designs build on the feedback we received in November at the Neighborhood Meeting hosted by Alatus at 43 Hoops in Hopkins and online. What we hear at this meeting will help us refine these designs for consideration by the MCWD Board later this winter.

November Neighborhood Meeting Recap

On November 15, 2021 Alatus hosted a neighborhood meeting at 43 Hoops in Hopkins to present and discuss their plans for a transit oriented development at 325 Blake Road. MCWD set up boards at this event to display early designs for stormwater, trail connections, and creek access and collect feedback through conversations and a survey. An online survey was also made available for community members who were unable to attend in person.

What We Heard
Through the survey results and conversations between MCWD staff and the meeting attendees, we heard that:

  • Creek access and regional trail connections rank as priorities.
  • There is a desire for informational signs or creative displays about stormwater treatment, the history of Minnehaha Creek, and creek water quality and levels.
  • There is interest in promoting active recreation (kayaking, bike connections, and walking paths), as well as retaining space for more quiet relaxation and reflection.
  • There are creative ways to use water as art or incorporate water-focused art into the site.
Join us on January 24th at a virtual meeting to see how the feedback we received in November has shaped the latest project designs.

Alatus Transit Oriented Development

MCWD and the City of Hopkins selected Alatus in the summer of 2021 to complete a transit oriented development at 325 Blake Road. Check out the Alatus project website to learn more about their vision for the master redevelopment at 325 Blake Road and get project updates.

About this Project:

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is leading an effort, in partnership with the City of Hopkins, developer Alatus, and numerous public and private partners, to transform a former industrial site at 325 Blake Road into a vibrant space where people and nature thrive together.

The 325 Blake Road Restoration and Redevelopment project is an effort to marry two sets of goals:

  • The restoration will complete a missing link in the Minnehaha Creek Greenway, a decade-long effort to restore the creek and connect a system of green space and trails around Minnehaha Creek to the surrounding community.
  • At the same time, MCWD is working closely with the City of Hopkins and Alatus to integrate a transformative, transit-oriented redevelopment into the site.
