Warning from Kent Police
Covid/Omicron Scam
The below message was received by a Kent resident this week, which is a smishing text impersonating the NHS and stating that you have been exposed to Omicron and need to click on a link in the text to obtain a test kit. Remember the NHS etc. will never send a message like the below asking you to click on a link and disclose personal and financial details to receive a Covid Test. The message is designed to promote panic and get people to respond quickly. Remember to apply “Take Five” and take a step back and have a think before rushing to respond. If in doubt always try to confirm that a text or email is genuine by calling using a trusted number.
If you receive a suspicious text message, then forward to 7726. If you think that you may have been a victim of this type of scam, then contact your Bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or calling 0300 123 2040.

Social Prescribing Drop in at EC30
A new initiative - do you need help? Every Thursday 10am-2pm. Within the Ashford Rural Primary Care Network the Social Prescribing Team are on hand to offer a more holistic approach to your health and wellbeing. They can connect you to local community groups and other services for practical and emotional support. Social prescribing works for a wide range of people, including people:
- Who are lonely or isolated
- With one or more long-term conditions
- Who need support with their mental health
- Who have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing
You must be registered within the Ashford Rural Primary Care Network at either Ivy Court, Hamstreet, Woodchurch or Charing Surgery to use this service.

The Rare Breeds Centre
Open for Winter Fun Wednesday-Sunday. 100 acres of family fun. You must book a ticket online before you come to the Rare Breeds. Meet the Animals - from Lady Rhona the Shire Horse to Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, Pigs, Goats and Donkeys. Outdoor play parks - Zip Wires, Adventure Playgrounds, Swings and Tyre Snakes to climb on. Mysterious Marsh - come hide out in the woods and challenge your dexterity. Giants Chairs - come have a picnic on our oversized seats made by Farmer Davy himself! Pig Racing at 3.15 (weather permitting during weekends and school holidays). Falconry training to watch and Falconry Displays daily at 2.30. Brass rubbing trails through the woods. Apply now! Quality stalls wanted for the Spirit of Tenterden Festival - Spirit Revival 2022, 1-3 July 2022 on Tenterden Recreation Ground. Our community food, drink & music festival. Head over to the Spirit website and find out more www.spiritoftenterden.co.uk we've already had some amazing stalls apply and they're paid up and ready to go (gourmet burgers, hot dogs, Thai, American BBQ, tea tent, real ale festival tent, gin bar, cocktails, Pimms & Prosecco trike, coffee bar, chillies/jams/chutneys, jewellery, wood, garden, candles, cakes, brownies, ceramics, aprons/accessories).
