Teach Water Savings with Kid Zone’s Conservation Wheel Activity

The Kid Zone team hopes you had a wonderful winter break and holiday season. In celebration of the New Year, we’d like to share our conservation wheel activity to show students how they and their families can conserve water and practice water-wise ways during the drought. This issue also contains important updates on upcoming science fairs for Alameda County students.

As a reminder, we offer other Kid Zone lessons for K-8.  Each grade level has its own customized lesson aligned with the Next Generation Sciences Standards. Our lessons are easy for teachers to use and require no additional lesson planning!

Once you sign up, you will gain access to lesson plans, teacher support and even free giveaways for your students. Get started by signing up on our website at www.zone7water.com/teachers.

Participate in the 2022 Science Odyssey or Alameda County Science & Engineering Fair

The annual Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Science Odyssey will be virtual this year. The Science Odyssey remains an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their love of science and engineering to the Tri-Valley community. Students K-12 are encouraged to submit their projects. Students exploring the topics of water and waste water will also have the opportunity to compete for the “One Water Award” sponsored by California Water Service, the City of Livermore and Zone 7. Submissions are due by February 4th.  For more information, visit the District’s website

Zone 7 is one of ten agencies sponsoring the 2022 Alameda County Science & Engineering Fair in support of math and engineering related projects. Thanks to the sponsorships, teachers along with their students who enter could win one of several prizes. The Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair is currently accepting applications for their March 2022 Fair from students in grades 6-12 who attend a county school.
