How should people honor Martin Luther King

Robert O'Sullivan

I am certain that Jesus understood the difficulty inherent in the act of loving one’s enemy. He never joined the ranks of those who talk glibly about the easiness of the moral life.  Our responsibility as Christians is to discover the meaning of this command and seek passionately to live it out in our daily lives.  READ ON ...

Pebbles and Gemstones

Rev. Kelly Isola

I grew up OUT of worth, meaning, my life may have started as whole, but I grew out of it. Through life’s challenges, traumas, and hurts I grew out of any awareness or belief in my own worthiness.

The Toxic Evangelical Variant

Martin Thielen

Although I left the evangelical church years ago for a more progressive expression of faith, I’ve always appreciated the gifts they gave me. However, these days, I barely recognize the evangelical church in America.   READ ON ...

Liturgy Selection

Up from the Waters

“Up from the waters into life.” However you interpret the sacrament of baptism in your tradition, the ritual almost always involves water. In water all life began… in water our life began… and so, in water new life begins.

Lent begins March 2: Lent is the 40 days from Ash Wednesday to the week leading up to Easter Sunday celebrated in Western Christian churches. Historically, the 40-day period was called Lent after an old English word meaning 'lengthen'. In agrarian societies this period marked the approach of the growing season which would begin those longer days and move towards the even longer daylight of summer. Explore Lent:

As we begin this new year, I have to tell you, we are very excited here at ProgressiveChristianity.org. We have several new kinds of content that we will be adding to give you even more resources for your progressive Christian insight.

The first project we are working on is a podcast that will focus on cultural and political current events from a decidedly progressive perspective. Co-executive Director Caleb Lines and I have already started working on getting it together and should have the first episode out within a month.

There's more coming this year as well and we will be telling you about them as the time to launch nears.

All of this is to say, thank you for your continued support. It makes all of this possible.

We are grateful for our past donors and those sustaining donors who supported us through a very challenging 2021.

It is now 2022 and we are calling on your support again. For those of you who haven’t donated, I hope you'll consider making a one-time donation, or, better yet, sign up to be a sustaining monthly giver.

With your help we can continue to change the world in positive ways.

PEACE!

Rev. Mark Sandlin
President and Co-executive Director
