Hello Cowell Students,

Happy New Year and Welcome back Cowell students,

For this first month of the year, our guiding principle of community is to be disciplined – “We seek to advance common goals through reasonable and realistic practices, procedures and expectations.” Creating a routine or schedule to guide you this quarter can help maintain discipline in academics and perhaps make you less stressed and more prepared when midterms come around.

This month, Meals with Friends is excited to highlight Ramen with Alice Folkins, the College Academic Manager. Do you need help reaching out to a professor of a Cowell course? Are you interested in finding more information about the student project fund or scholarship and award opportunities at Cowell College? Then please reach out to Alice. Fun fact: Alice is a Cowell Alumna.

If you are looking for a PB&J that doesn’t have peanut butter or jelly, then take a look at the recipe that Addi Somehk submitted. Addi is a Cowell Alum and lecturer. All you need is waffles, tahini and date syrup!

Please take a moment to see the resources that are available to you in response to the current pandemic. There is a FREE booster clinic that will be at the Stevenson Event Center. The Student Health Center also has information on what to do if you test positive.

Lastly, it is hard to stay focused on your studies or on any one task so our monthly giveaway is to ask the question: what are some things that help you stay focused on a goal? How do you set goals? What are some goals that you have set for yourself? Perhaps your response will help a fellow student.

Five entries will be randomly selected at 11:59pm on January 25th. Thank you Cowell Programs Office for sponsoring this month’s giveaway!

Have a wonderful Winter quarter!
