Testing and isolation requirements

The Emergency Management (Exposure Sites, Contacts and Diagnosis Requirements)(COVID-19) Direction 2021 was updated on 13 January 2022. This direction outlines the testing and quarantine requirements of people who have been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19, and those they live with.

The update includes new requirements relating to exposures sites, contacts and diagnosis. Significantly for business, South Australia’s Chief Public Health Officer has the authority to give specified workplaces or industries different requirements for isolation, testing and reporting. There are limited details at this stage on who can apply to be a ‘specified workplace’ however more information is expected to be released soon.

Also new is the ability for close contacts of a positive COVID-19 case to collect a Rapid Antigen Test kit from a nominated collection point. They are only to collect the number of kits necessary for compliance with this direction and they can only use it for the specified purposes outlined on the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDRapidAntigenTesting.

A full list of requirements is available here.

Public Activities

South Australia is currently under Level 1 restrictions with some additional restrictions. For the full details, visit the SA Government COVID-19 website.

If you require further information, you can call the SA COVID-19 Information Line on 1800 253 787 between the hours of 9am to 5pm 7 days a week or visit the SA Health website at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au or www.sa.gov.au/covid-19.

Be Reliable - Tips for Business Operators

As a customer, there is nothing more frustrating than when a business is unreliable. As a business operator, poor customer service puts your business at risk of losing a customer and also reputation damage through negative reviews. On the flipside, when small businesses are reliable, communicate in a timely manner, and uphold their end of the bargain, customers will return! The team at Inside Small Business have put together some tips to make sure you get it right:

Be there, or be square

For bricks and mortar businesses it’s advisable to have regular opening times. We know that operating hours are being significantly impacted by COVID-19, so if you can't be open when say you will, make sure you post regular updates to your social media, leave details on a recorded message and put a sign up in your shop window.

Deliver on time and always in full

Meeting timelines, delivery dates and deadlines shows you are reliable. The key is to set deadlines that are achievable, but once you do this, don’t miss them. If something comes up, communicate this as soon as possible to your customer and provide a reason why you cannot meet the delivery date. Then you can set a new achievable timeframe, always keeping the customer in the loop.
