MiningWatch Canada is growing! Please welcome Rodrigue, Tracy, and Alexandra.

Welcome Our New Staff!

Hello everybody,

We are thrilled to introduce three new staff people to the MiningWatch team! Rodrigue Turgeon will be replacing Ugo Lapointe as the new Canada Program Co-lead, focusing on Quebec and Eastern Canada. Alexandra Kazakova will be joining as the Interim Fundraising and Operations Coordinator while Diana Martin goes on maternity leave. And Tracy Young will be adding much capacity to our team in the new position of Financial Coordinator.

Our thoughts and very best wishes go out to Diana as she goes on leave and we look forward to continued close collaboration with Ugo.

Rodrigue Turgeon,
Canada Program Co-Lead
Rodrigue holds a master’s degree in law and life sciences from the Université de Sherbrooke and a graduate degree in common and international law. As a proud resident of Abitibi, Quebec, Rodrigue has been part of several citizen groups advocating for the protection of the boreal region and respect for local and Indigenous decision making processes.

Alexandra Kazakova, Interim Fundraising and Operations Coordinator
Alexandra is from Kazakhstan and immigrated to Canada in 2017. She has a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in economics, with her particular interests located within the policy research and program management spheres. Alexandra has 20 years of experience working with international and national development projects, supported by international agencies including the UN and the European Union.

Tracy Young,
Financial Coordinator
Tracy hails from Panama and has lived in the U.S., China, and now Canada. She is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience working in an accounting capacity in various industries, and is currently getting her Human Resources Management Certificate. She has found her calling running her own small bookkeeping and accounting business, where she has both the privilege and pleasure of working with people who are passionate about what they do.
