Today we honor the legacy of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King made an incredible gift to the entire nation in the area of legal and social equality for African-Americans.  Dr. King had a dream that he never gave up on, and because he didn't, we are all better off.

Sadly though, Dr. King's dream has not been fully realized.  Instead of being threatened by Klansmen, African-Americans are now often eliminated before birth.  A piece published in the Wall Street Journal said that, between 2012 and 2016, over half of New York City's African-American babies were aborted.  Specifically, 136,426 African-American babies were aborted in comparison to 118,127 who were born.  Clearly, we can do better by Dr. King and his dream.

Martin Luther King Jr's niece, Dr. Alveda King, knows this better than anyone.  She has devoted her life to fully realizing her uncle's dream.  She once commented, "As a mother of six, it truly inspires me to see the continuation of the civil rights movement embodied in the pro-life movement."

Later this week, pro-lifers from all across the country will gather for the annual March for Life, which has traditionally attracted hundreds of thousands of pro-life marchers.  Just like Dr. King, attendees will march for equal rights.  May their marching serve as a reminder for us, following Dr. King's lead, to never stop fighting for justice.
