Tip of the Week

I am sure that you have a few new year's resolutions, but did you strategise to actually make them happen? Here a few tips to kick-off 2022 on the right foot:

1. Have clear goals in mind
2. Consider how much time you have to dedicate to your project and make a reasonable plan with clear steps to achieve your goals
3. Keep track of your plan's development
4. Reassess and redesign your plan if necessary (be kind to yourself – sometimes things don't go as planned, and that is fine)
5. At the end of your project, evaluate what worked and what didn't go as planned, and use your findings to your benefit when starting new projects

Yes, 2021 was [another] challenging year. Despite all difficulties, the DMM community remained together and as strong as always! The first blog post of the year is in honor of all Delft mamas: Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022! Celebrating our community!

In our previous blog post, Anieke Lamers introduces Peekabond, a video messenger with science-based play for families! Read on as she talks more about the tips in Feel Together with Your Family, Even From a Distance.

As we already know, kids nowadays are "born" using the internet. But we also know that there are risks in the online world to which our children are not aware, and as parents we need to be very careful! COVID-19 Updates

The Omicron variant is spreading very rapidly worldwide as well as in the Netherlands. Therefore, the government has decided that the Netherlands would go into lockdown from December 19, 2021 to January 14, 2022. Many of public and commercial facilities are closed, but from January 15 shops, gyms and hairdressers are open again. Public events are unfortunately banned. Find more details and exceptions to the closure here.

Basic rules must still be followed and face masks are still mandatory at certain places. The government also advises people to use disposable face masks. Furthermore, working from home and doing a self-test before going on a visit are strongly advised. Are you planning to travel abroad? Keep updated with the EU policy here and the reopening plan here. Also, check which protocols you should follow here (in Dutch). Find the updated measures in brief here and the latest news here.

Follow weekly updates on COVID-19 on the RIVM website. Anyone who experiences coronavirus (mild) symptoms can be tested by appointment. It is possible to get a test even if you have no symptoms but are at increase risk; for instance, if you get a notification from the CoronaMelder app. Call 0800 1202 (08:00-20:00) to make an appointment or do it online. Municipal Health Authority GGD Haaglanden opened a corona test site at the Bieslandsekade 68 in Delft. Other test locations are in Nootdorp, Den Haag, Naaldwijk and Leidschendam. Find more information on testing on GGD Haaglanden website (in Dutch) or government website (in English). Steffie provides details of COVID-19 in an interactive way.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Vaccination in the Netherlands is voluntary; therefore, it is important to be well informed to make a good decision for yourself, your family, friends and vulnerable people in your surroundings.

Everyone aged 12 and over in the Netherlands got invited for vaccination against COVID-19. The total number of vaccines that have been administered can be checked from here. Already got vaccinated? Get your coronavirus entry pass with the CoronaCheck app. Want to get a vaccine but has not registered yet? Just visit the nearest walk-in center. Remember, even after you get the vaccine, keep following the coronavirus rules. Learn more about the vaccination and its related aspects here.

To increase protection against the Omicron variant, everyone aged 18 and over is invited to receive a booster vaccination. Everyone aged 18 and older who was vaccinated or had coronavirus more than three months ago should have had the opportunity to receive a booster vaccination.

Make your appointment online if you can, this will help the GGD run its booster campaign as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you are unsure how to make an appointment online, ask someone to help you. Staff at your local library can also help you make an appointment online.

Due to the pandemic, our regular activities such as Delft MaMa Playgroup and Cooking Club have been suspended. However, we will really appreciate you sharing some ideas for future activities. Please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you!
