In Memory of Jhoselin
All of us in the iGEM community are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our members, Jhoselin Mamani Borda, a passionate iGEMer from the 2021 Bolivia who left us too soon.

Jhoselin was an integral part of her iGEM team and was passionate about synthetic biology education and access to knowledge. Her team translated educational videos about synthetic biology and vaccination into Quechua. These videos are part of why the team was able to win a gold medal. Beyond their impressive medal, the team was recognized with a special prize for having conducted the Best Integrated Human Practices across all undergraduate teams in the competition.

We wish that we could continue to follow Jhoselin’s scientific career. We truly appreciate her contributions to iGEM and the synthetic biology community. It’s an honour for us to know she was a part of us, and her absence will be felt by people all over the world.
This newsletter was made like any good PCR- the machine stopped midway through, and the team started over again, but those bands came out like a Picasso.

Waving from around the world,
