NOTICES
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - 18th - 25th January

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2022 has been prepared by the churches of the Middle East, the history of which was, and still is, characterised by conflict and strife, tainted with blood and darkened by injustice and oppression. The Christians of the Middle East offer these resources conscious that the world shares many of the travails and much of the difficulties that it experiences, and yearns for a light to lead the way to the Saviour who is the light that overcomes darkness.

There are prayer resources for use during this week on the Churches Together website, here.

Reviewing our pattern of services

At the Joint PCC meeting on 26th January, we will be reviewing the new pattern of services introduced last September. If you have comments or feedback, both positive or negative, please let your PCC know so we may have some constructive and fruitful discussions and serve our worshipping community to the best of our ability. Thank you.

Letter from Bishop Steven

In amongst the sickness, grief and exhaustion Covid continues to bring, the call to joy is not always easy, says Bishop Steven in his January letter to clergy.

All of us need to find fresh sources of life in the Spirit and show gentleness to others and ourselves in this season. Bishop Steven reflects on our calling to show the world love and hope even in the midst of sorrow and sickness and looks ahead to the invitation to come and see more of faith this Lent.

Read +Steven's letter in full.

Shiplake C E Primary School logoSeeking a School Governor
Shiplake C.E Primary School, our local Church of England Voluntary Aided School, is seeking a Foundation Governor. Foundation Governors are appointed through the church and have a responsibility to ensure that the distinctive foundation character and Christian ethos of their Church school is upheld as well as participating fully in the wider work of the Governing Body. There is plenty of training available. For more information, have a look on the Diocesan website here and at the school website here. If you are interested in finding out more, please speak to Robert or Sarah.

Working towards carbon net zero

All of us are being asked to think about how we achieve carbon net zero including our churches. A group of five churches in the Diocese of Leeds are hosting a free webinar to share their learning about getting started on this journey.

Webinar - ‘How to achieve carbon net zero by 2030’

Tuesday 25th January 5-6pm

Five rural churches (Towards Carbon Neutral Churches Craven, in the Diocese of Leeds) who are on the journey to carbon net zero share their story. In this webinar you can learn how these churches set about their feasibility project and ask questions of the TCNCC team and their consultant engineers from Locogen.

It would be really helpful if a few people from our churches could attend and feed back to the PCCs what they learn. Please speak to Revd Sarah for more information, but feel free to book on the webinar in the meanwhile. Details and booking here.

New email address
Revd Sarah has changed her email address: it is now revsarahjoy@gmail.com Please update your records accordingly! Thank you.
