Friday, January 14th, Our AGM

Chris and John
Twenty members approved the changes to the constitution, the accounts and the subscriptions for next year. The only thing we didn't solve was a replacement Committee Member to replace Pat Gaster who is standing down.

Pat has helped us out a lot over the years, not least for her organisation skills in running the High Legh Teas. The teas made a substantial contribution to the cost of hosting the French visits. Lesley McIntyre is stepping in and organising the event but we are still short of a replacement committee member. If you can help, please contact the committee.

The official business didn't take too long. We had plenty of time for an excellent and light-hearted "French-themed" quiz set by Peter McIntyre. Did you know that the last time a Frenchman won Wimbledon was in 1946 (Yvon Petra). Well done, Tony Elbra for winning the Quiz prize. Chris and John followed this with a couple of French children's songs and got us all singing along.

A successful AGM, that  finished on a high note , almost literally!

Subscriptions for 2022

The last visit from Meung cost the Society about £8,000. We are planning to welcome our French guests next year but don't see the need to increase our membership subscriptions. At the AGM, we agreed to keep subscriptions at the following level ...

£20   - Single Membership
£40   - Couple Membership
£25   - Single Parent Families
£50   - Family Membership

The easiest way to pay is via by bank transfer to the following account.
Sort code:          20-91-48
Account number 13282058

Please use a reference "Your name" - Subs. In fact if you pay for any events via Bank transfer then please add a reference "Your Name" - event so that John knows what the money is for.

We are also happy for you to pay by cheque. In this case please make it payable to the "Lymm Twin Town Society" and post it to John Bamforth at Homecroft,24 Elm Tree Road, Lymm

Please can you pay your subscription to continue your membership as soon as convenient.

French Exchange 2022

Pauline Martin, Maire de Meung-sur-Loire, has written to Chris to invite him (and us) in June. Whilst it's too early to book travel yet, we do want to know whether you want to go or not. Especially if you are provisionally expected by your French partners.

If you haven't already told us your plans for June this year then please can you complete the Google form below. You can say that you are going, you aren't going, or even you don't know yet. Whatever you reply will help us with numbers

In addition you will be asked if want any help with transport or whether you will be making your own way there.

If you have already entered details into the form and you want to change anything then just re-enter your choice. we will take your latest information.

Edith Piaf at the Garrick

Tuesday 15th - Sunday 20th March

We have just realised that this show is on at the Altrincham Garrick.

Full details can be found here.
https://www.altrinchamgarrick.co.uk/shows/piaf/

We would expect this to be an excellent show. The Garrick have chosen to put this on at their "Lauriston Studio" rather than the main theatre. It's a small, intimate space on the side of the main building.

If you are interested in going then why not contact Lynn ( Lynnbryant99@hotmail.com ). If there is enough interest she may organise something before or afterwards.
