Welcome to the BAMEed Network Newsletter
The BAMEed Network is a grassroots network aimed at ensuring our diverse communities are represented as a substantive part of the education workforce for teachers and leaders in education. We seek to address the inequities in the recruitment of Black, Asian and minority ethnic colleagues into the teaching profession and the lack of support to ensure progress in those careers.

We connect with other education organisations and individuals through events, regional networks across the UK, signposting and mentoring support. Join us on this journey to drive change in education.

The World Reimagined
This is an exciting new national programme that brings people together through art, history, dialogue and learning to consider our shared history so we can make racial justice a reality, together. Schools can take part and showcase both their commitment to racial equality and the creative expression of their students as part of the largest public art education project for racial justice the UK has ever seen. The World Reimagined will see sculpture trails take place in 8 cities across the UK and engage 2m+ people from August to October 2022 - and is supported and by Sky. The free poetic programme includes access to resources, in which your students work towards poetic, spoken word or written creative expression. You can submit your students' creative work to be showcased. Which books do you use in your Year 1 classroom?
UK Literacy Association is looking for Year 1 teachers, English/Literacy leads, school librarians, SLT members and other staff working in a state-funded school in England, with knowledge of their school’s Year 1 English curriculum, to take part in a research project. This project aims to explore representations of ethnic minority groups, LGBTQ+ identities and characters with disabilities in the texts used to deliver English curricula (i.e. reading, writing and spoken language) in Year 1 classes. In order to do so, I am seeking to understand which are the most popular texts used in Year 1 classes via a short survey.

To take part in the survey please visit www.bit.ly/Year1Texts. The survey closes on 28th February 2022.
