Welcome, new folks!

Hi, there. I've had a number of people join the mailing list recently. I want to make sure everybody gets their free Frosthelm book, Traitors Unseen. If you haven't gotten it, you can get it free here (the site will ask you to sign up for this newsletter, which you're already getting) or here from Smashwords. It's also on Apple BooksKobo, and Barnes & Noble. Please, enjoy with my compliments.

The Daros audiobook is nearly here!

Jennifer Pratt has been hard at work, and her performance of the audiobook for Daros is complete. I'm listening now to her pre-release version, which is tremendously exciting. Her performance is warm and funny, and she does a great job bringing the characters and the story to life. Once we're done with edits (and there are hardly any so far) we'll release it, and you'll have a chance to hear Daros portrayed by a first-class actor and narrator. If you can't wait another few weeks, I also have a great audiobook of Flames Over Frosthelm performed by Simon de Deney already released. If you like audiobooks, please give that one a try.

The Woeling Lass has a cover!

I'm so excited to reveal the cover for The Woeling Lass, the fourth book in the Inquisitors' Guild series. It will probably come out in late February or early March. The central piece of art (the dagger with the Woeling Lass herself reflected in it) was created by Serene from Serene Illustrations, the same artist who did the Daros cover art, and the rest of the cover was designed and created by Olivia from Olivia Pro Designs, who has made the covers for all my books.

I have two short must-do projects ahead of finishing this up, but I have complete notes back from Reader #1 (my wife, Christina, who improves everything I do) and I am all set to do a deep dive into my second major editing pass. After that, it will go to a few friends for further comments and suggestions, and then to my copy editor to make sure everything is scintillating and proper. So, getting there, but a little way off yet. The cover is beautiful, and I'm so looking forward to sharing the story with you.

Some stories to try

I'm part of several author collectives, and we share each other's work to try to help all of us reach more readers. In many cases, the books we share are are free or discounted. Sometimes, they ask that you sign up for a newsletter like this one.

First is The Ravenglass Chronicles by Jon Cronshaw, a tale of a young princess finding her way in a magical and dangerous world. This is an eleven-part serialized story, coming in at just under a thousand pages, so it's meant to be episodic, the way Dickens and others used to write. It's on sale for $0.99, which is a tremendous deal for something that's the length of almost three full traditional novels, and it's completely free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers. The stories are very popular, with 757 reviews on Amazon, 65% of them five stars.

.

Second is Oath of Blood by Karim Soliman.

This novella is free with newsletter sign-up. It follows the struggle to name a new chief of the Ogono tribe.  It's grimdark, which means its going to be full of danger and flawed characters and hard, brutal choices. Soliman is an Egyptian author with a number of other fantasy series published.

Next, I have a set of epic fantasy stories that are all free. These range from stories to novellas to full novels. Some of them will require you to sign up for a newsletter like this one. There are 57 to choose from, all epic fantasy, high fantasy, and/or sword and sorcery.

Finally, I have a huge set of fantasy books and series to explore, all epic fantasy. There are SOOOOoooo many monsters and swords and glowy women here. There are over a hundred entries here, so you're sure to find something of interest.

Thanks

Thank you so much for your interest in and support for my books. I am excited to share two new books with you early this year plus the Daros audiobook, and I will likely be writing another shorter story set in Frosthelm in the coming months. I should be able to add another book or two during the second half of the year, especially now that I've fully stepped away from my teaching position at Guilford College. Please, if you have suggestions, likes, dislikes, or stories you want to read, feel free to write my any time. I love hearing from you all.

May the Bloodmother watch over you -
Dave
