The SNAP January 2022 E-News

THE #BETTYWHITECHALLENGE IS ON!

Pictured above: Betty and her love of animals

The passing of this iconic funny lady has brought the Nation together to honor her legacy, through donations to animal causes, which were near and dear to her heart.  We are asking if you might consider giving to SNAP tomorrow, January 17, 2022, which would have been her 100th birthday.  Be sure to put “Betty” in the memo section so we can record donations received in her memory.

PAW WARS 2022

Calling on all contestants to play the next round of PAW WARS! This original game was created by SNAP in recognition of National Spay-Neuter Awareness Month in February.  The objective is to see if dogs, cats, or rabbits, are the most popular pet, out there in the community.  The anticipated outcome is a free clinic in a lower-income neighborhood for the pet that receives the most votes.  Cats won the top spot in 2021, but can the felines remain the reigning champion in 2022?  Click here to vote for DOG, CAT, or RABBIT, (or use the QR codes below) as the best pet for you, starting at just $1 per vote.  Our goal is to raise $3,500 to make the free clinic possible for animals that may otherwise never receive any medical care during their lifetime.  We will keep you posted on the lead pet until the contest ends on February 28, 2022.

SPOTLIGHT ON SENIOR PET OWNERS

Above: SNAP's Maryann's Mission helped me finally fix my dog.

We are starting the New Year right with a second-year grant to assist seniors sixty-two and over, living on fixed incomes or other financial restrictions, with their pet care needs through Maryann’s Mission.  This program makes it possible for senior-owned pets to be sterilized for only $25 per procedure.  A spayed or neutered pet is healthier which reduces the cost of having a pet and extends life expectancy on average of two years, to give pet owners more time with their animal friends, especially if the pet is the only source of companionship inside the home.  We expect to help up to sixty senior pet owners and seventy-five pets (there are seniors who may have more than one pet).

PLATINUM SEAL OF TRANSPARENCY AWARDED THIRD YEAR IN A ROW

We did it again!  Candid by GuideStar awarded us the top honor of a 2022 Platinum Seal of Transparency badge for diligently and consistently maintaining our online profile.  Each nonprofit in their database can claim its profile and complete the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels of information, which is no easy feat.  Funders use GuideStar to assess the worthiness of prospective grantees by reviewing their financial data, board composition, program descriptions, metrics, and other telling information.  We will be displaying the badge on our home page to inspire donors to give with confidence.  Please join us in celebrating this organizational accomplishment.
