Recordings of our webinar available

On the 6th and 7th of December 2021 we organized the webinar: ‘BETTEReHEALTH – Human, Technical and Policy Factors for Better Coordination and Support of eHealth in Africa.’

During this webinar more than 15 speakers shared their experience, knowledge and expertise with the aim to increase the level of international cooperation in eHealth, inform and strengthen end-user communities and policy makers in making the right decisions for the successful implementation of eHealth in their region. Over 130 registered participants joined the event and interacted with the speakers.

This webinar was the first in a series of webinars that we will organize in 2022. Each month we will organize a webinar around a certain topic and we invite you and all other stakeholders to join and contribute to the discussion and share your own experiences. More information on the upcoming webinars will be shared through our website, social media channels and future newsletters.

Join our Regional Hubs

BETTEReHEALTH has set up four Regional eHealth Hubs across Africa, led by a local partner of the BETTEReHEALTH consortium, and endorsed by their national Ministry of Health.
Each hub will organise coordination, networking and knowledge sharing activities involving all regional actors, with focus on human/workforce, technical and public policy factors.

Becoming a member of the BETTEReHEALTH Regional eHealth Hubs does not impose any formal duties or responsibilities on you, but provides you with voluntary opportunities to:

• stay up-to-date with eHealth developments in various countries and regions;

• contribute your own insights and information for the benefit of improved healthcare outcomes, new research partnerships, and/or business collaboration;

• be at the forefront of strategic eHealth developments in your country and the wider region;

• participate in regional workshops and international meetings of the BETTEReHEALTH consortium;

• benefit from networking activities and profile yourself and your organisation in the field of eHealth;

• assess possibilities for you and your organization to get actively involved in new initiatives.

Webinar ‘Hacking of healthcare institutions’

Digitalization in the Healthcare Industry offers tremendous opportunities for improving quality of care, increasing access to clinical services, sharing patient data in secure environment to ensure the privacy, confidentiality, integrity and availability of clinical and non-clinical data. BETTEReHEALTH contributes to the Nigeria Computer Society’s eHealth Forum

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), umbrella body for all IT practitioners and interest groups in Nigeria, has a core mandate of developing and promoting IT in Nigeria. In over four decades of existence, NCS remains committed to promoting rapid national growth by providing necessary technical and professional supports in all sectors of the economy.

The NCS organized an eHealth Forum and Workshop on December 14-16, 2021, in order to assist health institutions in the design, implementation and deployment of dependable and robust smart eHealth systems.

BETTEReHEALTH representatives Konstantinos Antypas (Project Coordinator), Frederic Lievens and Sam Quarshie joined the event to present the BETTEReHEALTH project, as well as provide some insights from their own activities and experience. Frederic Lievens from Lievens-Lanckman in Belgium presented the general aims of the project and encouraged participants to actively join and make use of the BETTEReHEALTH Regional eHealth Hubs that have been set up by the project partners in four African countries and which cover the entire continent in order to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among eHealth stakeholders. He also presented the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth which is a global network of digital health stakeholders that also aims to support the implementation of eHealth, based on practical knowledge and experience of its members. Konstantinos Antypas from Norwegian research organisation SINTEF, provided a more in-depth view on some of the BETTEReHEALTH tasks and activities related to human, technical and policy factors for better coordination and support of eHealth in Africa. He also shared some examples of "Modern Strategies and Technologies for Smart Health Delivery" based on past and current SINTEF projects and activities in Africa and Europe. Sam Quarshie, Head of IT at the Ghana Health Service, spoke about their experience with the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the detection and management of tuberculosis.

BETTEReHEALTH looks forward to continue working together with the NCS and other Nigerian eHealth stakeholders in the coming months and to foster cross-country collaboration within the project’s Regional eHealth Hubs.

Better eHealth across continents: experiences from Norwegian actors

BETTEReHEALTH organised a panel discussion at the largest conference for eHealth in Norway. This conference was an important arena to be present our activities, as there are four project partners that are from Norway, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) is an important donor in health in African countries. The panel participants were Austen Davis from Norad, Jens Kaasbøll from University of Oslo, Shegaw Anagaw Mengiste from the University of South-Eastern Norway, and Dillys Larbi from the Norwegian Centre for E-health Research. The panel discussion was moderated by the coordinator of BETTEReHEALTH, Konstantinos Antypas from SINTEF Digital. The video recording of the panel can been found on our Youtube channel.
