Welcome Laura Faber and Sanne Terlouw, founders of our Swe-Cham member Bureau de Werkvloer

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce is very pleased to welcome Laura Faber and Sanne Terlouw, founders of our new member company Bureau de Werkvloer.

Many companies don’t realize how much of an effect having more women present in every level of an organization has in terms of profit, team functionality within the company, or the ease of filling vacancies from a larger pool of potential employees.

Bureau de werkvloer is a young agency focused on training and communication within companies. It is the brainchild of its two permanent employees, Laura Faber and Sanne Terlouw. To get enough women at the top, to ensure that women are represented at all levels of the organization, and to close the pay gap, Bureau de werkvloer helps companies to develop a program for a more diverse, functional and profitable business.

We are looking forward to sharing their expertise on Gender Balance and Diversity topics, as well as to inviting them as speakers to the Swedish Chamber Women Business Leadership Program 2022. www.bureaudewerkvloer.nl

Launch your international career as a Scholar at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce is very proud to present a record of three scholarships offered for a new group of young talents to join the Swedish Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Program 2022-2023.

Over the years, the Swedish Chamber’s Scholarship Program has allowed young people the great opportunity to work in an international business environment, which has given them valuable insights into the Dutch market.
The three scholarships have been made possible through generous donations from Elof Hansson Foundation, Gull & Stellan Ljungberg Foundation, and Scholarship Fund for Swedish Youth Abroad. The applications for the three Scholarships are open.

”My time as a scholar at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce has so far been an intense, exciting, and very rewarding journey. I love that you, at an early stage, were given a lot of freedom and responsibility to take on your own projects with the support and help from the rest of the team. This has given me the opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge to the test, and apply it in real situations, which both have contributed positively to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce as well as to my personal development.” Johanna Lindén, Gull & Stellan Ljungberg Foundation Scholar 2022/2023.

Matias Rodsevich, Founder and CEO PRLab – An innovative Tech PR Agency for Startups & Scaleups

In the last month of 2021, The Swedish Chamber met with Matias Rodsevich, founder, and CEO, of PRLab, as well as of the PRLab Community. PRLab became a member of the Swe-Cham last year and we were curious to get to know more about this Amsterdam- & Stockholm-based PR Agency and its cutting-edge PR consulting services for startups, tech companies and corporates.

Matias Rodsevich founded PRLab only three years ago with the aim to provide specialized global PR services for tech startups. The idea for starting the company emerged from his long working experience within PR. With more than 10 years of experience from large tech clients such as IBM and Google Argentina, to smaller tech startups and scaleups, he discovered that the traditional PR model is not applicable in smaller companies.

As an expert on the needs of startups and scaleups, he offers to help companies to grow their brand regardless of in which stage their business is as well as offering a multitude of services to help with PR planning and PR strategy to startup companies. Today only three years later PRLab is an Award-Winning Public Relation Service and belongs to the 30 best PR agencies of 2021.

“The biggest USP of PRLab is our proactive approach. We are specialized in companies that need to build a reputation from scratch.”

- We are looking forward to introducing ourselves and organizing inspiring and high-level PR events together with the Chamber for the profit of all members as soon as the Corona regulations are lifted and it is possible to meet up physically to exchange experiences and build our networks again.

Corps Consular Nederland 25 Years – Jubilee book by Lukas Joel

Dutch Consular Corps (CNN), founded on December 4, 1996, was celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2021. For this occasion, the CNN board thought this was an excellent moment to present an Anniversary Book with the stories and activities of 25 of the 140 members of the Dutch Consular Corps. What does the function of an honorary consul actually entail, what are her or his duties, and what does an honorary consul do?

In Corps Consulaire Nederland, written in Dutch and English, Lukas Joel talks to twenty-five honorary consuls in which they share their stories and talk about their motivation and experiences during their assignments. Among others, you can read the personal stories of well-known Swe-Cham Members Ben Vree and Chairman Ehsan Turabaz.

Lukas Joel (1946) member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and former Honorary Consul of Sweden in the Northern Netherlands. For his assignment between 2009 and 2019, he was knighted by both the Swedish and the Dutch Kings. During his time as consul, he experienced a lot of special moments and met a lot of interesting people. He previously wrote the book Met kraai heen en hond terug. He realized that his fellow consuls have had a lot of interesting experiences as well and he was very pleased to gather 25 of those stories in the 25th Anniversary Book for the Dutch Consular Corps.

Jim Rowan appointed CEO of Swe-Cham member Volvo Cars

Jim Rowan will join Volvo Cars on March 21, 2022, as CEO & President. At present, Jim is the CEO and Board member of Ember Technologies, and previously Group CEO of the Dyson Group. He replaces Håkan Samuelsson, who first joined Volvo Cars as a member of the Board in 2010 and has held the position as CEO & President since October 2012.

This change follows an accurate and diligent search process to ensure the continued strong leadership of Volvo Cars with a CEO who has a strong background within software digital transformation and innovative consumer products, and the timing is in line with the previously communicated extension of Samuelsson’s contract that expires in 2022.

“I am delighted to join Volvo Cars at such an exciting time for the company and at such a transformational time for both the industry and consumers. The strong track record of Volvo Cars across innovation, safety and quality, coupled with world-class talent and inspiring sustainability and technology capabilities, places it in the driver’s seat for the road ahead,” Jim Rowan said.

Håkan Samuelsson will remain in his role until Jim Rowan begins in March, which is when Håkan also leaves the Volvo Car AB board.  Håkan will continue as the Chairperson of Polestar Automotive Holding UK Limited (“Polestar”).

Social Skills

Malin Hedlund

MH Leadership, Breakthrough Master Coach/ Founder of Flow & Flourish Method

This event is part of the Swedish Chamber's Mentorship Program 2021-2022 which is an 8-month program consisting of 5 mandatory Seminars and workshops covering topics as navigating in a world of change, past pandemic business culture, personal development, and mindfulness and recovery. The program is inspired and supported by senior business professionals from across all fields and sectors within the Swedish-Dutch business community.

The event will address the topic "Social skills". Social skills are essential to effective communication, and no leader can be efficient and effective if one cannot communicate well with those who they lead. It is about consistency, integrity, setting an example, and being a role model. People will follow you and share the same vision if they see consistency between your speech and behavior on a daily basis. Additionally, you should earn the respect and trust of your team, without the use of power or hierarchy.
