The February 2nd meeting has been rescheduled. We lost the meeting space at the Library, so the February 2nd meeting will be Zoom only and starting at 7. At this point in time, the April and June meetings are still scheduled at 4:30 and still as hybrid Zoom/In-person meetings.
INDIAN RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT – MASK MANDATE RESISTANCE
The IRSD School Board will meet on Monday, January 24, 7:00 PM, at Indian River High School. The Board will be discussing whether or not to enforce Governor Carney’s Mask Mandate, which has been extended beyond February 8th.
Ron Lewis reported: This was discussed at each of the last two Board meetings, ending in December with a decision to hold the vote in January pending a study of the financial consequences on the School District of refusing to enforce the Mandate and the potential legal implications on the Board members individually - no discussion of the impact on students and staff.
RD38 Committee Members, and others in our Community, are encouraged to attend this meeting as a demonstration that there are voters who support a decision to enforce the Mandate. Please come and WEAR A MASK. Those interested in carpooling should meet in the rear of the parking lot at the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach, planning to depart for the meeting at 6:20 PM.
POINT IN TIME SURVEY of HOMELESSNESS IN SUSSEX POSTPONED
This annual event has been postponed by one month, and is now scheduled for the night of February 23rd and the morning of February 24th. You can read more about it and learn how to volunteer at link. The 90 minute Zoom training session for volunteers is rescheduled to February 9th (includes safety/security issues). Volunteers are encouraged for either the morning or evening sessions, they don’t need to participate in both. I volunteered for an evening segment a few years ago, and gained a different perspective on homelessness, particularly in Sussex.
