January 2022 Newsletter

The new year has brought us new clients and finds us joining with a local church to worship as our "home away from home" church.  The little RV park that we're in provides more space than many and is currently relatively empty.  We find that we greatly miss the people and scenery of Westcliffe.  The 80 degree temperatures around Christmas were a bit odd for us.  There's been several days where we've run the heater at night and the A/C in the afternoon.  After 22 years in Colorado, we're missing the snow and mountains.

RV Repairs Needed

We will be displaced temporarily as we need some major suspension work done on the trailer.  The shop told us to expect the repairs to take 5 days.  Of course we weren't expecting such a major repair bill so quickly.  While that is definitely a hurdle, we are glad God let us know how big an issue it was before it became a catastrophic loss.  Evidently, there is a class-action suit related to something similar.  We are investigating to see if our unit fits into that class.  Even as we walk through the difficult situation, we are confident that the Lord has this covered, too.

For those who wonder how we are adjusting to living in the trailer as it has become home for us, we've learned some new "dance moves", especially when cooking together in the small kitchen.  Client meetings have to be scheduled carefully, as our desks are just a few feet apart.  We're still working on figuring out how to comfortably relax and separate from work.  There are many, many adjustments, but overall we're acclimating well.

Teaching

Mark was asked to fill in and teach a Sunday School class a couple of weeks while the teacher was out sick.  We looked at a couple of passages at the end of 1 Corinthians.  He will also be presenting virtually to a men's gathering, in Chicago, in late February.

We are still hopeful that there will be additional opportunities.  We have planned some travel for late March into April.  We hope to blend speaking engagements with visits to friends and family, as the itinerary permits.

Web Volunteer

The ministry is in need of a volunteer that has expert knowledge in WordPress, Beaverbuilder, and MailChimp.  It is difficult to tend to all the ministry needs in regards to clients, without the extra burden of maintaining the website and related matters.  Largely, the content will be written by a ministry officer and then will need to be updated in the appropriate online platform.  This volunteer will also work with our website support representative when necessary.

Contribution Statements

Donation receipts were mailed earlier this month.  Please let us know if you've moved or did not receive your contribution statement.  Your donations permitted us to serve 80 clients in 2021.  In addition to meeting with 40 new clients this year, we held 3 intensives, and sat with people in various meetings including more than 34,000 minutes of direct client interactions.  We also had 7 speaking and worship events, and we completed a book project in 2021. There are several more books in various stages of progress now.

The pie charts below help you see where financial donations are applied.  The ministry board met, and the following budget was approved for 2022.  We've included a chart for last year's expenses so that you can compare the funds that were available and used in 2021 to the budget set for this year.
