This Week's Spotlights

Policy Concerns from Your Pastors
Beloved in Christ,
You are undoubtedly aware of the current surge of Covid19, so I wanted to share some brief updates with you about our life together in this season.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Linworth UMC has been abundantly cautious, staying fully online longer than many congregations and requiring masks when others do not. Each congregation needs to make decisions which first care for their community and second make sense for them.
At current, responses to the Covid19 surge are varied. Some congregations are doing nothing, some are moving back to fully online. We believe that it is best to stay the course we are on, requiring masks any time you are in the building for church purposes (worship, classes, dropping into the office, etc.). We absolutely understand that even with this requirement, you may not feel comfortable to be physically present in worship, and we want to bless you in related decision making. We will continue to live-stream each of our services so that you can join us in worship even if you need to not be around others.
The reality of our worship attendance at current is that we believe it is possible to distance from others, and we ask that you will be diligent in wearing a mask that fits properly and consistently over your nose and mouth.  This is for your safety and for the safety of all of our staff and those who attend worship.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Rev. Anna Guillozet
Senior Pastor

Make plans to invite a friend and join your church family for worship on January 30 at 10AM, online or in person.

Family Worship Service
We hope to make each 5th Sunday of the Month a family worship service, bringing the whole family of Linworth United Methodist Church together for a service with blended musical offerings, creative liturgy, energy, and most of all, God's Word for us.

You might think, “this worship service isn’t for me because I don’t have kids”. But it is for you, and everyone! The word family is also an adjective and it communicates that something is designed to be suitable for children as well as adults.

The Worship Team has been making plans so this service is suitable for you, no matter your age, worship style or attention span. It is the perfect opportunity for Linworth to be one household of faith, gathering as God’s children for worship together.
Free Covid Tests
For free covid test kits please click here!  You will receive 4 tests via USPS.
With the rise in the number of COVID cases in our area, Ms. Becky and Pastor Brooke have made the decision to move Celebrate Wonder Sunday School and Children’s Choir to Zoom this Sunday. There will also be no nursery care at the 9 or 10:30 Worship Services for the remainder of January.
Please email Pastor Brooke bhilliard@linworthumc.org for the link to join our Zoom Sunday School and Choir this Sunday from 9:45-10:15a.
Worship Service Production Coordinator Position
LUMC is in need of someone to lead this important aspect of ministry moving forward.
For further information on the Worship Service Production Coordinator position please click here.  If you know of anyone that would be a great fit for this position, please share.
Volunteers Needed
Do you enjoy helping behind the scenes? We are looking for people to be a part of our worship service production team.  All skill levels are invited to inquire - we will train you!  We need individuals (or couples) to help with sound, av, and livestream services for weekly worship at 9 am and 1030 am services.  Would you prayerfully consider learning more about this vital ministry?  For more information and to sign up for training, click here.  Pastor Sara will be in touch with you to go over your availability so that we can coordinate training in the near future.

Energy Efficiency at LUMC
Are you interested in how Linworth UMC has worked to become both more energy efficient and better stewards of resources? Do you want to hear how other churches within the denomination are making similar movements? Do you want to cheerlead some of our incredible volunteers and staff (Mark Barrett, Denny Devine, John Kuss, Mark Sundberg, Eliezer Molina)?
The Creation Care Division of the Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church is hosting a webinar (on Zoom) called "Energy Efficiency from Audit to Action: Local Church Stories" on January 27, 2022 from 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST
All are welcome to register for this webinar and gather more details at: https://creationcare.umcmission.org/events/75807

Friends,
What will happen to the United Methodist Church if there is a split following the next General Conference, and how will that affect your local congregation? The Central OH Reconciling Team is offering a four-session program on Zoom that will help to inform your local congregation about the choices facing United Methodists in these days ahead. The Alabama-West Florida Reconciling Ministries Network has created a presentation that will help those in your congregation to get their heads and hearts around what the future holds for the UMC in a post-separation church.
These sessions will be held on January 23, 30 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm on Zoom. Click HERE to download a flyer about the series.  The flyer also contains a link that you can use to register for the next 3 sessions.  Everyone will need to register in advance.  All who register will receive the Zoom link, and only those who register will be admitted for the Zoom sessions.
If you have any questions, please email rev.deb.stevens@gmail.com.
Reconciling Ministries Membership
Did you know that your individual membership matters to the Reconciling Ministries Network? (Even though LUMC is a Reconciling Church - individual engagement matters!)  Signing up is easy—and your involvement can help us make new connections.  Please prayerfully considering signing up at https://rmnetwork.org/join-us

Reconciling Ministries Network equips and mobilizes United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves. Signing up as a Reconciling United Methodist helps advocate, teach, encourage and empower growing connections to create a more inclusive and just Church.   Stay connected to learn about ways  to promote  LGBTQ+ justice and inclusion in churches and to continue growing as people who seek the way of Jesus in treating all God's children with dignity and love.  Sign up at rmnetwork.org/join-us as an individual Reconciling Methodist and invite your friends and family to get connected to these efforts.
If you have any questions contact Pastor Sara at pastorsara@linworthumc.org.

New Life Community Outreach has been really busy serving the needs of the homeless during this winter. We are getting low on many items to help the men stay warm. If you have any of the following items to donate, please drop them off at the church in the bins across from the office. Needs include: flannel shirts, sweat shirts (regular & hoodies), sweat pants, long sleeve t shirts, gloves, hats, scarves, winter coats, and hygiene products. Please call Linda Mrukowski, 614-436-0382 if you have questions.
John Burrough Christmas Food Drive Update
We handed food out to near 50 families. One lady was in tears getting the provided bag of goods. We still have 30 chickens left in the freezer. January can be a lean month for families so we'll work with the social worker so the families will get them. Thanks to all of you and the congregation in general, our Methodist Women's group, Pastor Anna's running group, your friends and neighbors who pitched in with labor and funding to make this program possible.  The food was so welcome and the assistance will continue through January.

Verse of the Week:
"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
