The Climate Action Now team at Stockport Council have informed us of a train-the-trainer opportunity for community leaders to deliver Carbon Literacy training with their communities.
Carbon Literacy is the awareness of climate change and the climate impacts of an individuals everyday actions. After completing Carbon Literacy training participants will have an increased awareness and strategies for reducing their impact on the environment.
What does it involve?
The train-the-trainer programme is aimed at individuals with no or very limited experience of delivering training. By the end of the programme, the participants will:
- Be fully aware of the Carbon Literacy certification process
- Have acquired skills and knowledge to enable them to confidently deliver Carbon Literacy training online and face-to-face
- Have delivered a section of Carbon Literacy training to their fellow participants
- Have explored a number of different online tools that can be used for interactive sessions
There is a charge to join the programme, however, the CAN team at Stockport Council have said that they are happy to fund places via applications to the Stockport CAN Fund (which the relevant Councillors would need to approve). They would encourage applications to include that after the training participants would run a Carbon Literacy course with their community, becoming a climate Community Champion and perhaps also a skill share session with the Cross Sector Forum.
The training starts in February and the deadline for applications is 31 January . There are currently 8 places still available.
Please note, participants must have already completed Carbon Literacy Training as a learner.
