Congratulations, Rev. Bill Millar!

Congratulations are in order for 2016 McGeachy Senior Scholar, Rev. Bill Millar! Rev. Millar received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for the Advancement of Interreligious Understanding on January 11.

"Rev. Millar has a wonderful gift to unite communities across cultures and beliefs. A collaborative leader, during his many years as pastor at Knox United Church, he built and maintained relationships with communities outside the conventional parameters of a mainstream Christian congregation," Manitoba Lt.-Gov. Janice Filmon said in a statement.

The Foundation was thrilled to support Rev. Millar's important intercultural church initiatives, in particular his podcast Open Out, which was created to help individuals and faith communities discover the possibilities and challenges of intentionally "opening outwards". The podcast is available for listening here: http://openout.ca/.

A Prayer for the New Year

January 18-25 (inclusive) is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, an octave of shared prayer, reflection, and fellowship inviting Christians of all traditions to deepen our relationships and to live and witness together throughout the year. At a time when our society often feels fractured by our differences, participating in this special celebration encourages us to heal these divisions, yet honour our diversity.

I invite you to pray the following with me, from In Our Differences, Unite Us, in the hope that it will inspire you today and all year long.

We thank you for the many colours, cultures, and customs
that we share in this world.
In our differences, unite us by your love.
Enable us to act together to uphold life
and to make this world a just and peaceful household
for all humanity.
Today we ask you:
O God, hear our prayer and grant us your peace. Amen.

Blessings,

Sarah Charters
President
