Historically, conservation and housing advocates have operated on different wavelengths with contrasting (sometimes conflicting) priorities. We are increasingly seeing collaboration between these sectors based on the need for and interest in a more inclusive and equity-focused approach to environmental work. In this exploratory piece, we approach the various intersections between housing and conservation - including density, land use, and environmental injustice - and look into a variety of local policy initiatives that drive toward sustainable land use.
