2) COVID Vaccine Campaign Updates

FDRHPO's collaborative campaign with partners to continue building awareness of COVID-related issues continues. Recently, our Medical Director Dr. Steve Lyndaker helped to answer the most common questions about the COVID booster, timing, and more. Click HERE for a link to the videos.

Dr. Schuessler, a pediatrician at Community Health Center of the North Country, also recorded some video clips to answer similar questions for children's vaccines. Those clips are in production and will be shared once complete. Stay tuned.

The Watertown YMCA stepped forward with significant funding to boost this campaign throughout the region. Utilizing funding it received for COVID-related purposes, they were able to push these messages out through paid media, including digital media, print, and outdoor (Public Square electronic billboard and RunningBoards). THANK YOU to the Watertown YMCA for continuing to be such a great partner!

FDRHPO encourages the sharing of these materials across your respective communication channels to help spread these messages. We can share any of these materials and are happy to co-brand with your logo. Please contact Krista Kittle, Communication Coordinator via email or by calling 315-755-2020 ext. 51.

3) FAST-ED Stroke Assessment Video Part II

It's been about a year since Upstate University Hospital, Central New York EMS, and North County Emergency Medical Services Program Agencies collaborated to produce their first video promoting the use of a novel enhanced FAST-ED stroke assessment tool for Emergency Medical Services. The collaboration continues with the release of the second video. These tools were created to enhance the ability to recognize strokes that present with subtle signs and symptoms. Approximately one-third of all strokes do not present with typical signs and symptoms and the use of these tools will assist in the recognition of strokes in patients who present with atypical signs and symptoms. Click HERE or on the graphic above to watch the new recently-released video!

4) FDRHPO Distributes Pulse Oximeters to Partners

Through rural health funding, FDRHPO's telehealth network has procured and distributed 445 pulse oximeters to regional hospitals and primary care offices to implement borrow programs for high-risk patients with COVID-19 or other illness/chronic disease that results in respiratory illness. FDRHPO has also printed and distributed instructions on their use, a tracking log (patients should take reading at least one in the morning and once at night), and directions on what to do if oxygen levels are at or below 90 for more than an hour. SMC has had a similar program in place for some time, and it has been well-received. With the procurement of these additional oximeters, more partners across our tri-county region can provide their patients with the ability to monitor at home, with the hope of empowering them to seek care at the right time and the right place.

5) Good-To-Know

INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF DSRIP

On December 28, New York’s Medicaid program released the final evaluation by an independent evaluator of the state’s DSRIP program, the multi-billion dollar investment authorized through the state’s 1115 Waiver from 2014 to 2020.

The evaluation concludes that “New York’s DSRIP program succeeded in demonstrating progress towards both the MRT and DSRIP program stated goals and laid the foundation and pathways for successful and promising practices to continue.”
