Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry recently secured £550k in the third round of the Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund to improve the safety of women and girls in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
We are pleased to announce that as part of the Safer Streets Initiative, we will be working in partnership with Nottinghamshire Police, the Nottinghamshire Police Commissioner, and Ashfield District Council over the coming months. We are looking for female volunteers to take part in a smart phone safety app trial to help women feel safe and reduce their risk of harm. The study will require participants to download a safety app on their mobile phone and test the tool for a period of six weeks.

We are holding a brand new confidence and self esteem group, delivered by a qualified art therapist. The group offers a safe space to explore how you feel, practice self-compassion, reflect on yourself, and build a sense of self. A programme of 6 group sessions focused on building self-esteem and identity. Open to women aged 18+ living in the Sutton area. Please see the leaflet below for further information about this group.
We hope to work with boys and young men to develop a peer mentor scheme. This project will address the issue of VAWG (violence against women and girls) in the local community. The group will be invited to attend weekly sessions looking at healthy relationships and exploring how to reach out to men and boys to address the issue of VAWG and supporting them to be an advocate to other boys and young men.
