TXUUJM Kicks Off UU the Vote with Calls to Black Voters in Dallas County

EARLY VOTING: Feb. 14-25! PRIMARY ELECTION: March 1!

Look at the smiles on the faces of all those phonebankers above! On Jan. 30, the Texas UU Justice Ministry teamed up with Side with Love to kick off UU the Vote as part of the 30 Days of Love campaign -- with a focus on early voting outreach to older Black voters in Dallas County. We made almost 500 calls in less than an hour, and trained dozens of phone-bankers to use the easy, automated system from our friends in Common Cause. Thank you to everyone who showed up! Keep calling! Celebrate Black History Month by helping Black voters be heard and counted in Texas!

Thank you, SACReD organizers!

TXUUJM was proud to sponsor the SACReD Gathering, a powerful time for deepening theological understanding of reproductive rights, human worth and dignity, and the sacredness of choice. TXUUJM leaders Rev. Erin Walter and members of the Advisory Council will reflect on our learning and share more over time. In the meantime, we share our gratitude to the SACReD organizers and speakers, including Rev. Daniel Kanter of TXUUJM member congregation First Unitarian Church of Dallas, and lead organizer Rev. Angela Williams, quoted in this recent Washington Post article: "The threat to Roe v. Wade is driving a religious movement for reproductive choice."

Thank you to the Social Action Council of First Unitarian Church of Dallas for inviting TXUUJM's Rev. Erin Walter to be the guest speaker for the group's annual meeting. The theme was "Solidarity in Action" and we had a lot of fun talking about our joy practices to support a life of justice action. Thank you, First Dallas!
