HE AITUĀ!  HE AITUĀ!

KA HINGA TE TŌTARA O TE WAO NUI A TĀNE

THOMAS, Huta

Kua hinga te mataamua o te whānau Thomas, ko Huta Thomas.  Nāna he rangatira nō Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai, nō Ngati Raukawa, nō Ngāti Toa Rangatira.

Huta mentored many people in his life and through his manaakitanga, many artists were able to stand on stage with confidence.  He inspired many rangatahi on the Kapiti Coast and his passing has been felt throughout Aotearoa.  He was a committed father and loving Koro, an amazing cousin and Uncle to many, this is a deeply sad time for our iwi.

Huta is currently lying under the whakaruruhau of his Marae, at Waikanae. The nehu will be on Friday (times to be confirmed).  He will be laid to rest at Takamore.

The Marae Trustees and kaumatua have informed us that the Marae will be observing the red light system and ask that all manuhiri must present their vaccine pass at the gates.  We are aware that the karanga for Huta will bring many people onto the marae, this option ensures that there is no limit to the number of people who can attend..  Scan the QR code or keep a record of your attendance. This will help with contact tracing for any cases in our community. Wearing of masks is welcomed and please try to refrain from hongi.  These measures are in place to ensure that our marae is able to remain open to our tūpāpaku, kirimate and manuhiri as safely as possible..

We do ask that you consider the whānau pani and our hau kainga by assembling at the main gate awaiting the karanga so we can manage the appropriate numbers onto our marae.

We have received many messages to tautoko at the tangihanga and welcome your support in the wharekai.
