Dr. Jennifer Clarke is leading a new USDA project called the National Agricultural Producer Data Cooperative. The purpose of the project is to covert raw data submitted by food producers into usable information. Information on the Cooperative and future webinars can be found at https://www.agdatacoop.org/. The Food Processing Center was featured in a short video that was posted in Nebraska Today. The video focuses on The FPC's work with NuTek and their development of Salt for Life, a salt alternative. Welcome to Lecturers Dr. Keting Li (left) and Dr. Xiaoqing Xie (right) who have recently joined the Department as Lecturers. Dr. Li will be teaching the 7th cohort of 3+1 students at NWAFU. Dr. Xie is leading instruction in FDST 449/849 and co-instructing with Dr. Rose in FDST 460/860.

Food Science and Technology alum, Andrew Wassinger was featured in the January 17th, 2021 issue of the Lincoln Journal Star for his work on 'Sandhills Elixer' a non-alcholoic spirit. In his career at Conagra Brands, Andrew Wassinger, a R&D Director at Conagra, has developed and improved products such as frozen vegetables and microwave popcorn.You can read the article at https://go.unl.edu/5jwz.
"Winter Break Trip was a hit! 13 of us from the Food Science and Technology department made our way to Colorado for 6 days with lots of great sites, amazing food, beautiful weather, laughter and deepened friendships.  A few of the favorites were Professional Bull Riding Rodeo, Garden of the God’s hiking, Skiing/Snowboarding, Horseback riding in the snowy mountains and sledding in Rocky Mountain National Park."  - Chris Ebbers.

Postdoctoral Research Associate - Human Digestive Microbiome

Post-Doc Opportunity in the microbiome laboratory of Dr. Izard

The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will be focusing on the interaction of diet and the human digestive tract microbiome in context of health and disease. The project techniques include genetic material extraction, next generation sequencing, omics and ecological analyses of the microbiota, qPCR, cloning and other approaches to be determined in conjunction with the PI and in alignment with the laboratory needs and the candidate’s expertise. Participation in management and recruitment for our clinical studies are expected.

Energy Sciences Research Summer Internship for Undergraduates
