BEETHOVEN FESTIVAL

On Sunday Feb. 6 at 3pm the Beethoven Festival program will feature the Trio Op. 1 No. 1 for Clarinet, Viola, and Piano in a perfect arrangement of one of Ludwig van Beethoven's first published chamber music works. The program then travels to the 20th century with the dazzlingly virtuosic 1990 Trio for Clarinet, Viola, and Piano by Jean Francaix. The afternoon’s concert will conclude with Beethoven Festival Artists in Residence John Novacek returning to the works of Beethoven with the popular Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 110.

Ballet West is bringing Michael Smuin’s Romeo and Juliet to the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center in Park City on Feb. 26 at 7:30pm. Sweeping and energetic, Smuin’s version captures William Shakespeare’s humor, drama, and heartache. It is carried by Sergei Prokofiev’s dramatic score that tells the Bard’s story about two star-crossed lovers, caught in their families’ feuds.

Huffman’s videos and multimedia installations in essence become large-scale collages, the juxtaposition of disparate elements serving to recontextualize and give new meaning to each image, each line of text, and each sound. And from now until May 1 see Maia Cruz Palileo's Long Kwento. Maia Cruz Palileo investigates larger questions pertaining to identity, history, migration, and concepts of time. Infusing narratives with both memory and imagination, Palileo translates diverse materials into a novel formal language to describe a new world of their own making.
