Agricultural Health and Medicine (HMF701) course will now be held VIRTUALLY

With Agricultural Health and Medicine (HMF701) moving online, you can now learn about the unique health challenges facing our rural and remote populations from the comfort of your own home.

Running from February 28th to March 4th, the presenters cover a broad range of health, safety and wellbeing issues ranging from mental illness and addiction through to emergency medicine, agrichemicals, zoonotic disease, non-communicable disease and agricultural trauma.

It will increase your understanding of the social, environmental, physical and mental health factors that result in higher rates of injury illness and death in rural and remote communities, and deepen your understanding of how to help improve health outcomes in these communities.

This course is offered through Deakin University School of Medicine. Applications close 20th Feb 2022.

Injury risk and safety behaviours of children on Victorian farms

Farms present a unique environment as they are both a home and workplace to many Australian families. This results in children being exposed to many hazards not typically present in other homes. In Australia, child farm-related injuries have remained stable over the last 20 years, despite efforts to reduce them.

The National Centre for Farmer Health is conducting a study to investigate how the behaviours, attitudes and lifestyles on Victorian farms are contributing to, or protecting children from, farm-related injuries.

We would love for you to assist in our study. We are asking parents and children (aged 5 to 14 years) in rural or remote Victoria to assist us by completing our two-part survey.
