CyberNorth’s value proposition is: To  provide a resource that coalesces the North East’s regional cyber security industry, to achieve things collectively that individual companies will struggle to achieve.

During our first meetup of the year, you said you wanted:

• A better understanding of who is operating in cyber in the region
• To stop the £££ leaking out of the region 
• Help address the skills shortages 
• Have more technical representation in the CyberNorth strategy
• To increase general awareness of cyber safety

We will be working to address these over the coming months

Are you interested in helping shape the future direction of CyberNorth? We have a vacancy on our Steering Group which comprises representatives from across the commercial, public and academic sectors. The group meets monthly for about an hour. Ideally we are looking for someone with a cyber technical background. Interested? Please contact phil.jackman@dynamonortheast.co.uk 

We have three events at the planning stage

• March 10 - monthly meetup, 16:00 - 18:00, details to follow. If you are interested in giving a lightning talk please contact phil.jackman@dynamonortheast.co.uk 
• March 23 - ‘Student and Business Meetup’ - 12:00 to 13:00 online, jointly hosted by Durham University and the National Cyber Security Centre.
• April 6 ‘Net Zero and Cyber Security’ - 17:30 - 20:30, Net Zero and connected communities will drive change in society over the coming decades but how can we make sure it is secure? Sunderland Software City

We are also working on plans to hold a monthly in person meetup. Watch out for detailed announcements. 

The new CyberNorth website will go live shortly and will include information about the sector and support available. The intention is for all North East cyber security businesses to be listed on the site and we will be in touch over the coming weeks to check that information is correct and up to date.

DCMS launched two public consultations around cyber security:

Proposals for legislation to improve the UK’s cyber resilience. with a deadline of 11:45pm Sunday 10 April 2022.

Embedding standards and pathways across the cyber profession by 2025. with the deadline of 11:45pm Sunday 20 March 2022.

CyberNorth is Dynamo North East’s cybersecurity cluster, supported by Accenture, the Innovation Supernetwork and recognised by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and the National Cybersecurity Centre as representing the region. 

CyberNorth is working to support all organisations across the regional cybersecurity ecosystem including seventy cybersecurity service suppliers, support services providers, consumers of cybersecurity services, academia, government, other public sectors including blue light organisations, media and policy makers.
