We were at the CHARM Repair Cafe and plan to come back!
Our first ever True Beginner class was a great success!
We provided repair services at UGA's Fall Operation Safe Drive.
There were no attendees, so please reach out if you'd like there to be another one where you can see the route and meet ride leaders.
The Delta Delta Die alley cat series returned in 2021, we're hoping this is back to a regular event.

All Kids Bike for OAES

BikeAthens teamed up with SORBA-Athens, Oglethrope Ave Elementary School, and the Strider Foundation to raise money from our community to get OAES some great bikes. Thanks to you all we were successful. Our volunteers assembled the bikes at an FYOB night and we can't wait to surprise the kids with them!
Our updated shop hours are by appointment

Mon-Fri: 11am-5pm

FYOB: Thursdays 6pm-8:30pm

FTWNB Joy Ride

BikeAthens is launching a regular Joy Ride for Femme, Trans, Womxn, and nonbinary identifying individuals. This ride is for all levels of experience, including those who have never been on a group ride before or have never ridden on the road. Please bring whatever bike you feel comfortable on and ride in whatever you feel comfortable in, a helmet is highly recommended.

The first ride will be February 13th at 2pm, starting and ending at BikeAthens following this route at party pace. This is a true no drop ride and we will have a sweep to make sure no one gets left behind.

Come to the BikeAthens FYOB Night on February 10th to meet some of your ride leaders and get your bike checked out.

Contact Irene (she/they) at vice_president@bikeathens.org with questions.

*If you are not someone who is Femme, Trans, Womxn, or nonbinary and would like to bike with a group, please attend the BikeAthens monthly Joy Ride or any of the other general group rides in town.

Georgia Bikes is Hiring!

Georgia Bikes is looking for a full-time safety education programs manager.

Duties include managing the organization’s grant with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), which emphasizes hosting youth and adult bicycle events, training law enforcement officers, distributing bicycle safety and educational materials, and assisting the Georgia Bikes executive director with activities that support the growth and development of local bicycle advocacy and safety organizations in Georgia..

COVID and The Shop Update

BikeAthens strives to protect the health of everyone in the shop. Due to the increase in cases, we have closed the retail portion of the shop to the public.

FYOB Night has additional airflow and we are requiring all individuals who come into the shop to be vaccinated AND masked. If you are not fully vaccinated and/or not masked, we ask that you make an appointment for service.

Additionally, if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms - whether you feel this is attributed to seasonal allergies or have a negative COVID test - we ask you to refrain from coming into the shop.

We cannot verify that your test was completed under perfect conditions and followed the guidelines for the most accurate result. If you wish to read more about accuracy of testing, start with this Mayo Clinic article for a good overview.

By continuing to work together, we can help reduce the number of COVID cases in our community and ensure that there are hospital beds for those who need them.
