Nutrition and Wellness Tips

Nutrition Tip

Popcorn - nutrition hero or zero?
“Is popcorn a nutritious treat?” - that depends. One cup of air-popped popcorn provides 0 g of sugar and fat, with 1.3 g of fibre (Nutrient Value of Some Common Foods). A great nibble to satisfy midday snack. However, that same amount as movie popcorn contains 3 g of fat, and at 11 cups in a small bag of popcorn that jumps to 33 g of fat. And caramel-coated popcorn is no less disappointing with one cup providing 20 g of sugar and 5 grams of fat. To make popcorn a nutritious choice - go natural!
