The Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody (IAPDC) has published a report into the high mortality rate for people detained in custody compared with the general population. The Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody and the Royal College of General Practitioners Secure Environments Group have published a report on substance misuse related deaths in the criminal justice system. The report highlights the need for a whole-systems approach to prevent avoidable deaths in custody.
