The Public Typewriter Program is officially BACK!

Hello, typosphere! Yesterday, February 1st, we officially re-launched our Public Typewriter Program, and we couldn’t possibly be more excited. For those of you who need a refresher, this program was founded on the basis that we want to make fully functional typewriters more accessible to the community at large. This program aims to place vintage, rare, and working typewriters in hundreds of public spaces across Philadelphia, from classrooms to cafés to bookshops!

These two beautiful public machines below will be finding a home in Upper Darby High School with Ron Hillman, an AP Language and Composition teacher! We couldn’t think of a better way to re-launch one of our favorite community programs.

There are plenty of ways to get involved with the Public Typewriter Program, such as hosting a typewriter, donating unwanted typewriters, and taking a class to learn how to restore typewriters while restoring one for the program. To get involved or to ask any questions, please email us at info@phillytypewriter.com- we’ll be happy to answer any and all of your questions or even just chat about the program!

Our website has also gotten a facelift.

We’ve been making some changes to our website! Basically every single page has had a change. We’ve added more about our story and services on our home page, added an entirely digital showroom of our typewriters for sale on the sales page, and even created a new page dedicated to our community programming! Make sure to click the button below to check out the changes we’ve been making– there’s still more updates to come, and we are so incredibly excited for them!

Also, speaking of community programming…

We have a lot of programs that we’re planning to launch this upcoming year, and we are so excited. We want to keep some sort of element of surprise, so we won’t say too much… But let’s just say, these programs might be bringing you into the shop for some casual visits a bit more often! Make sure to follow us on Instagram and like our page on Facebook to stay up to date with all of the new programs we’ll be launching this year, because you definitely don’t want to miss it.

All in all, we’ve been having a pretty solid start to 2022 here at Philly Typewriter. We hope your 2022 is going just as well as ours!
