REGISTER NOW - Heartset® for Self-Care and Resiliency Webinar
Entering into this new year with so much in flux, with uncertainties and challenges being thrust upon us each day, how can we find a sense of peace and stability? Our children need us now more than ever, but we may feel that we are floundering or ill equipped. How might we find ourselves to be a steadying force during these whirlwind times?

Perhaps the very first step is taking care of ourselves- when we take care of ourselves, we can help take care of others. As we commit to and support our own emotional and mental health and resilience, we can then be more available to truly be there for others. As healthy, authentic role models, we then can deeply assist our students as they navigate and strengthen their positive emotional and mental health. Our attention to our self-care is at the core.

The How Kids Learn Speaker’s Forum, Heartset® for Self-Care and Resiliency is an informative, engaging, and inspirational webinar sharing EduCare Foundation’s highly respected and practical tools for greater self-care and resilience. Included is an introduction to EduCare’s “8 Heartset Skills for Teaching & Learning.” When these become our personal baseline, then we can create a kind and compassionate climate for learning in our programs and practices that deeply impact and elevate our young people.

Speakers: Stu Semigran (Co-Founder and President of EduCare Foundation), Margalit Ward (Heartset® Facilitator, Thrive Global Executive Coach and Training Facilitator, EduCare Foundation) and Armando Diaz (Vice President of Programs & Partnerships, EduCare Foundation).

Who Should Attend: Out-of-school time and educational leaders and practitioners serving young people ages 5-18, funders, and policy-makers.

UPDATED COVID-19 Guidance Student and Staff Close Contacts: Vaccinated/Unvaccinated (1/28/22)

The Close Contact memos are being updated to reflect updated DPH Guidelines. The English version has been updated and added to the COVID-19 Memo Folder. Translations will follow the English version as soon as possible.
In the information below “you” refers to staff, student, contractor or volunteer.
If you are fully vaccinated or have had COVID-19 in the past 3 months, you do not need to quarantine and should continue to come to work/school in person as long as you don’t have symptoms. You should:

  • Wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days, especially in indoor settings.
  • Recommend you test on or after day 5. SFUSD will accept PCR and over the counter rapid antigen tests.
  • If the test is positive, follow guidance for testing positive
  • If you experience symptoms, you should go home and isolate. You can return to work or school if you have a negative test taken after symptoms have started, symptoms are improving, and at least 24 hours with no fever.

If you are NOT fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have NOT had COVID-19 in the past 3 months, you should quarantine at home. You should stay at home, even if feeling well, and monitor for symptoms. If you must go out, wear a mask.

Criteria to Return from Quarantine

  • Close contacts who do not have COVID-19 symptoms:
    • If you test negative on or after day 5, you can return on day 6 of quarantine. Continue to wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days, especially in indoor settings, and monitor symptoms for 10 days from the last date of close contact.
    • If symptoms develop at any point, test immediately, stay home, and follow the guidance below for close contacts who are in quarantine with symptoms.
  • If the test is positive, follow guidance for testing positive
  • If you do not test, you can end quarantine after day 10 and return on day 11.
  • Close contacts who experience COVID-19 symptoms:
  • If you test negative on or after day 5 of quarantine and after symptoms began, you may return to school on day 6 after last close contact.
  • If the test is positive, follow guidance for testing positive.
  • If you do not test, you may return 10 days after the last close contact AND 10 days since symptoms started.
  • According to SFDPH: If the child has ongoing close contact with the person with COVID-19 (for example, a parent), the child must quarantine for 5-10 days after the person with COVID-19 is no longer infectious.
    • For example, a child quarantining for 10 days after the last close contact would have to stay home for a total of 20 days after the person with COVID-19 first developed symptoms, or if asymptomatic, had a positive test.

Note: If the situation details change, the length of quarantine may change and you will be notified.
