Dear CACFP Operators,

On October 18, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) published a revision to the regulations regarding the meal pattern tables for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and National School Lunch Program. However, because that document contained errors on three CACFP meal pattern tables, the FNS, on January 27, 2022, published an amendment to correct the final regulations, titled CACFP Meal Pattern Revisions Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010; Correcting Amendments. The meal pattern charts on the FNS website as well as other guidance documents containing the CACFP meal pattern tables will be updated by the USDA in the coming weeks.

Visit the Federal Register web page for the corrected CACFP Meal Pattern values. A summary of the amendments is listed below:

  • Ready-to-eat cereal for infants
    • Revised: 0 to ¼ ounce equivalent (oz. eq.)
    • Previous: 0 to ½ oz. eq.
