TUNE IN & TAKE ACTION: #TransitEquityDay 2022

🚍Friday, Feb 4🚍
This Friday, February 4, transit advocates from all over the country are taking action to commemorate Rosa Parks' birthday by declaring that public transit is a civil right.

In Atlanta, we partnered with MARTA Army, Advance Atlanta, and Southern Environmental Law Center to create a bus challenge for #TransitEquityDay.

We’ve asked our elected officials to take the #TakeTransitATL Challenge by taking public transit to work, errands, and other activities in their daily lives to experience firsthand what it’s like to navigate the bus and train in Metro Atlanta.
🚏🚍You may run into Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman riding the train or Councilmember Jason Dozier waiting at a stop. If you spot your elected official participating in the challenge, post a pic on social with the hashtag #TakeTransitATL and #RidingWith[Name] (examples: #RidingWithDoug or #RidingWithJason). Even if you don’t see any officials out and about, you can still participate in the discussion with them by posting your transit commute with #TakeTransitATL and letting everyone know what #TransitEquityDay means to you.
🚍Pledge to #TakeTransitATL on Friday, Feb 4🚍
Then, from noon – 2pm watch the TED 2022 Livestream on YouTube. Hear what transit advocates and leaders across the U.S. are doing to support a just transition from the fossil fuel economy to clean, renewable energy. A just transition also requires that we uphold worker and civil rights: everyone should have access to free or affordable public transportation regardless of age, race, or class. Finally, a just transition means supporting the rights of workers to organize. Click for scheduled guest details
🚇Join #TransitEquityDay livestream at noon on Fri Feb 4🚇
See y'all on the bus or train tomorrow!
