DUT’S DR MOHALE SPEAKS ONCE AGAIN AT THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF PROVINCES WORKSHOP
Dr David Mohale, Director of Special Projects in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the Durban University of Technology was once again invited to speak at a two-day National Council of Provinces Workshop held online on Tuesday, 01 February 2022 and Wednesday, 02 February 2022.
The workshop was on Cooperative Governance and Intergovernmental Relations under the theme “Taking a lead in advancing co-operative governance and intergovernmental relations”. Presenting on Day 1 of the workshop was DUT’s Dr Mohale and Dr Andrew Siddle from the University of Cape Town, addressing the workshop on principles of accounting, meaning and application underpinning cooperative governance.
DUT’S PROF OLUGBARA IS THE ONLY PROFESSOR FROM AFRICA TO HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY SELECTED AS A GUEST EDITOR OF THE JOURNAL ON RECENT ADVANCES IN BIOINFORMATICS AND HEALTH INFORMATICS
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Professor Oludayo, O. Olugbara is the only professor from Africa to have been successfully selected by the journal of Applied Sciences as a guest editor of the special issue on Recent Advances in Bioinformatics and Health Informatics.
Professor Olugbara is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), where he holds the MICTSETA Chair of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the prestigious 30th Southern African Universities Power Engineering Conference (SAUPEC2022) at the Durban International Convention Centre Complex from 25 January 2022 till 27 January 2022.
SAUPEC2022 brought together experts from the industry, academics, and students in engineering, information technology, smart grids, renewable energy technologies, computer science, artificial intelligence, robotics, mechatronics, and cyber-physical systems to present research papers, network, and expand the fraternity that has been built as part of the SAUPEC legacy over the last three decades.
B. ED ALUMNA TURNED FARMER, CREATES JOBS FOR DISADVANTAGED LOCALS
A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Alumna at the Durban University of Technology, Mbali Bengu is keen on creating more farming jobs for the disadvantaged people from her village at Mfulamhle, Umzimkhulu, KwaZulu-Natal.
Bengu owns a vegetable farm, K’saselihle Fresh Vegetables in her hometown and since its establishment in 2019 she has managed to permanently employ six locals and from time to time she offers short term contracts to other unemployed locals. As her business grows, she plans to employ more people as she feels there are many unemployed people in her village, facing poverty.
