I was sad to hear this news. I prayed she would make the choice to return to her family. After some time, I learned she had come back.  

I went to visit Sherine. She told me how she had run away and then decided to come back despite of the difficulties and her fear of the family’s and community’s reactions. I told her I had been praying for her while she was away and that God had answered my prayers for her return.

Then I shared with her, and with the family, the story from the Bible of the prodigal son who ran away to a far country but then returned to his father. Sherine started weeping. “That is exactly my own story,” she said. Then I added, “God is like the father in the story. He loves us so much and longs for each of his sons – and His daughters – to return home to Him.”

At the end of the visit, I asked if the family had any prayer requests. Sherine asked me to pray for her to be able forget the past and have the courage to not run away again. Her mother asked for God’s protection on the family. With many tears, we prayed together.
