Welcome Message
By the time everyone reads this, we will have Rally Night over with and everyone will be excited about what the 2022 4-H year will unfold. Thank you to the Morpeth Hall for allowing us to use the facilities, it is greatly appreciated. On behalf of the 4-H leaders’ association, I would like to welcome all of our members back and say a special welcome to all “new to 4-H” families. Congratulations for joining this dynamic youth program. The opportunities are endless and it is up to you to seek out where you want the program to take you. If your goal is to join a couple clubs and exhibit at local fairs, you have found the right place. If your desire is to seek leadership and personal development opportunities, then 4-H is for you. The motto is “Learn to do by doing”. The message is very simple and yet quite direct. Watching our young people develop and accomplishing the goals they set out is extremely rewarding for themselves, their parents and especially their leaders. A theme that I always believed in was this, “Todays Youth are Tomorrows Leaders”. Going through the 4-H program, then being a leader and now helping out where ever needed has been very rewarding for myself. I want to encourage each of themembers and leaders to keep learning and doing as you see fit.
For 2022 the Association will be using a revolving chair for running the meetings. Busy lifestyles and commitments didn’t allow for any of the directors to be able to take on the responsibility of the chair person. With the awesome guidance of Janet Campbell, we know this will work out fine. At this time, I would like to thank Kris McNaughton her stellar leadership during the past two years. With all the challenges of the pandemic, she and your board kept 4-H in Chatham Kent operational, even when it wasn’t clear where and what we could do. We welcome Chris White and Katheryn Luimes to the board. Thank you to each one of the directors for your dedication to the association. We worked together as a well-oiled machine and the laughter around the table was greatly appreciated. I want to assure all the 4-H families and supporters that Chatham Kent 4-H is in good hands and 2022 will be exciting for all.
What can you do to help? As life opens up, I want to encourage each one of you to sign up to volunteer for the different committees. “Many hands make light work”. Let’s all jump in and make things happen. Chatham Kent 4-H is envied around the province for the programming, leadership and support we have locally and beyond. You are all part of it! Enjoy the year, have fun and keep learning and doing!
Colin Pool Chatham-Kent 4-H Director

Everyone has their reasons for wanting to give back to their community. For Jim and Ruth Clark and Doug and Susan Cameron, supporting youth has been one that their family values. Their legacy will live on through their donation to the 4-H Endowment Fund.
