Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community;
I am so proud to share this news with you. Our preschools have received the highest quality ratings from Quality First a First Things First Program. Our four preschools received five-and four-star ratings from Quality First.
We are extremely proud of our entire preschool staff, our teachers, paraprofessionals, students and families. It takes all of us working together to be sure that our treasures get the very best education and are ready to enter kindergarten. We are working hard to maintain and find additional preschool funding to keep these amazing programs alive and well in our schools. Thanks to all of you for your support and especially the City of Tolleson Mayor and Council for their funding support of our preschool programs.
Here is a little bit more for you about First Things First and the Quality First Program to explain how important these ratings are.
First Things First was created to help ensure Arizona’s children enter kindergarten healthy and
ready to succeed. First Things First is a partner with other agencies in creating a family-centered, comprehensive, collaborative and high-quality early childhood system that supports the development, health, and early education of all Arizona’s children through age 5.
One of First Things First’s signature strategies is Quality First, a voluntary Quality Improvement and Rating System (QIRS)1 intended to support the development of a high-quality early childhood system. Quality Firstpartners with childcare and preschool providers to improve the quality of early learning across Arizona.
As we speak about kindergarten readiness, it is exciting to share that it is time to enroll kindergarten-age and kindergarten-ready children to being school with us on August 3, 2022. Please help spread the word that each of our schools will be hosting KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP the week of February 22nd. Here is the schedule for our roundups that will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 PM:
- February 22 – Porfirio H. Gonzales
- February 23 – Sheely Farms
- February 24 – Desert Oasis
- February 25 – Arizona Desert
Children who will be five years-of-age by August 31st who live within or beyond our boundaries should attend. Our kindergarten program is five, full days each week Monday through Friday.
Children who turn 5 years-of-age between September 1st and December 31st maybe eligible through our Kinder Early Entrance Program (KEEP).

Estimadas familias y comunidad de Tolleson ESD;
Estoy muy orgullosa de compartir esta noticia con ustedes. Nuestros programas de preescolar han recibido las calificaciones de calidad más altas del programa Quality First a First Things First. Nuestros cuatro preescolares recibieron calificaciones de cinco y cuatro estrellas de Quality First.
Estamos extremadamente orgullosas de todo nuestro personal de preescolar, nuestras maestras, ayudantes de maestras, estudiantes y familias. Es necesario que todos trabajemos juntos para asegurarnos de que nuestros tesoros reciban la mejor educación y estén listos para ingresar al kinder. Estamos trabajando arduamente para mantener y encontrar fondos preescolares adicionales para mantener vivos estos increíbles programas en nuestras escuelas. ¡Gracias a todos por su apoyo y en especial al Concilio y Alcalde de la Ciudad de Tolleson por su apoyo a las escuelas en Tolleson!

First Things First fue creado para ayudar a garantizar que los niños de Arizona ingresen al kinder sanos y listo para triunfar. First Things First es una sociedad con otras agencias en la creación de un sistema de infancia temprana centrado en la familia, integral, colaborativo y de alta calidad que apoya el desarrollo, la salud y la educación temprana de todos los niños de Arizona hasta los 5 años.
Una de las estrategias distintivas de First Things First es Quality First, un sistema voluntario de calificación y mejora de la calidad (QIRS, por sus siglas en inglés)1 destinado a apoyar el desarrollo de un sistema de primera infancia de alta calidad. Los niños que tendrán cinco años de edad para el 31 de agosto y que vivan dentro o fuera de nuestros límites deben asistir. Nuestro programa de kínder es de cinco días completos cada semana de lunes a viernes.
Los niños que cumplan 5 años entre el 1 de septiembre y el 31 de diciembre pueden ser elegibles a través de nuestro Programa de Entrada Temprana a Kinder (KEEP).
