Identity Clark County recognizes educational leaders

Business advocacy nonprofit Identity Clark County recently released their Learn Here 2021 Real Heroes honorees, recognizing "volunteers and staff who go above and beyond to make our community such a great place to learn." For Battle Ground Public Schools, this years' nominees were Health Services and Nursing Supervisor Cathy Shannon, a former hospital nurse who has been leading the district's COVID-19 pandemic response efforts and Monty Anderson, who recently stepped down as Director of District 1 after 12 years on the School Board.

Anderson, who is corporate treasurer for Battle Ground-based Tapani, Inc., was recognized for his ability to help make sense of numbers, as well as his willingness to spend time visiting classrooms and meet with students and staff. Shannon started as a substitute nurse in the district before eventually taking on a role overseeing the district's team of health professionals. She has been instrumental in coordinating the district's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including mitigation efforts, contact tracing and supplying tests for students and staff.

Identity Clark County put together a video with more about this year's Real Heroes. You can also read more about the Real Heroes honors on the Learn Here website.
