INTRODUCTION

Here we are in the middle of winter. We’re unsure how the weather has been where you are but around Ontario, it has been colder and snowier than previous years. With the last extended cold spell many of the bodies of water have frozen up and we won’t be able to get much fishing done until spring.

Thankfully this newsletter is packed full of news and updates pertaining to the Canadian Carp Society Platform. It’s nice to be able to provide content year-round to keep members entertained even in the dead of winter.

WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS

It’s great to see that the Canadian Carp Society continues to grow. We’ve seen a recent uptake in new memberships and would like to welcome some newcomers.

Jonathan Lenson, Bernard Leblanc, Zachary Hirsh, Bill Little, Simon Pomeroy, Sue Graham, Jason Marsh, Stephen MacDonald, Tim Pittham, Emery Berger, Jonathon Cooper, Steven Kouwen, Steve Woodhall, James Capitain, Samuel Nichols, Harrison Bryk, Jeff Turner and Dominic Goulet!

A big warm welcome from all of us at the Canadian Carp Society! Remember if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time.

Our virtual events could get interesting this year with more and more members signing up from around the globe!

NEW MEMBER PACKS FOR 2022

For 2022 we will be offering something different than the CCS T-Shirt that members received with their Pro Memberships in 2021. We are currently sourcing items and testing quality and durability before making a final decision.

2022 Pro Member packs will ship out in March 2022 and most likely include:

CCS Member Toques.
CCS Stickers.
Other CCS Swag.
Note: Items may come in two separate shipments as we strive to streamline the process and keep membership fees low.

CCS PLATFORM UPDATES

It’s not always announced on the CCS Platform when we update things, but we are putting a lot of effort in during the winter months to update pages and sections to prepare for the upcoming 2022 season.

No more community notification when updating profile pictures.
Updated Rules and Information on the Unofficial Record Carp Pages.
Updated Rules and Information on the SSF Event Pages.

If you haven’t already, be sure to head on over and subscribe to the CCS YouTube Channel and Follow Us on Instagram. We will be releasing some videos publicly in the near future to further showcase what the CCS offers to members throughout the year.

LIVE BROADCASTS

We had some interesting live streams last month. Be sure to check out the replays on the Broadcasts Page.

This is quickly becoming one of our favourite aspects of the CCS Platform. A lot of work has gone into designing these interactive live feeds where members can participate in the live chat and ask questions to those live on the bank or just having a carpy chat over zoom.

There are some interesting plans for this section and we’re excited to see live member engagement in future streams.

ARTICLES

Some excellent reads have been added to the member-only article section:

6ft Madness - Julien Tremblay
Why Nets Are Angler Care - Baron
Hopelessness, Despair & Tenacity - Paul Ferritto
A Year Through the Lens (Part 1) - James Nowell

Many thanks to our great members for submitting these interesting articles. We are continually amazed by the writing skills of our membership. It is truly unique and a great way to represent the Canadian Carp Fishing Community with so many differing opinions on all things carpy.

PODCASTS

The Podcast section has been seeing regular updates. In case you haven’t logged in for a while there are some great episodes covering many different topics from our members, be sure to check them out.

Episode #10 - Ben Thomas & Harry Kouwen - An entertaining listen of Harry’s carp fishing adventures abroad.
Episode #9 - Will Muschett & Galen Yerex - Some very interesting insights into Galen’s underwater recordings.
Episode #8 - Paul Ferritto & Mike Wolosinecky - Paul and Mike recap their 2021 fishing season and what they look forward to in 2022.

Many thanks to those that have taken the time to sit down and chat, these episodes are great listens in the off-season and are really getting us excited for the year to come. More great listens are to be added soon!

CCS 2022 CALENDAR

The votes have been tallied and the winners have been chosen. The 2021 Monthly photo competition saw many great photos from anglers across Canada. Thank you to all that entered, we have reached out to the winners and received the original copies of the photos so we can access the GPS data to pinpoint these locations and exploit them for our personal gain. *Sarcasm OFF * We received the original high-resolution copies and started the design of our first annual CCS Calendar!

The calendar shall cover the dates from March 2022 to March 2023. As the Canadian Carp Society was founded in March we thought it would be fitting to have our calendar stretch the full year that the CCS has been operational.

Stay tuned to the community feed for further updates and information on how you can get your hands on this piece of Carp Fishing History.
