Submit a Proposals to the BSA Events Committee

The Events Committee's April call for proposals is now open! BSA issues tri-annual calls in January, April, and October that are similar to open calls for conference proposals, but through our distributed model the Society hosts events throughout the year, in-person and online.

Our events strive to center diverse perspectives covering wide-ranging topics as outlined in our Equity Action Plan. Through our distributed conference model, BSA reduces its carbon footprint and meets you where you are by lowering barriers to participation. We have hosted bibliographical events both online and in-person at various locations throughout North America and, when possible, elsewhere in the world. Such events can include but are not limited to:

  • lectures,
  • panel presentations,
  • hands-on workshops,
  • conference sessions,
  • and receptions following events that are bibliographical in nature.

Submitting a Proposal: What to Expect
We request a general overview of the content of sessions and presenters as well as information about the budget, promotion, and general organization of the event. The budget request allows us to compensate presenters and organizers with honoraria for their intellectual and organizational labor and to cover other necessary costs. Not all fields in our form are required!

Proposals are due April 4, 2022!

PBSA: Call for Book Reviewers & Books for Review

Anyone wishing to write a review must read the guidelines and email Reviews Editor Meaghan J. Brown at reviews.pbsa@bibsocamer.org to express interest. Please identify the book you wish to review and include a note about your experience and expertise. This will help to match books with well-suited reviewers.

Good Words Make Better Wine: Building the UC Davis Library's Wine Writers Collection – Jullianne H. Ballou

In 2018, the UC Davis Library began to expand its Wine Writers Collection, which includes the papers and digital files of people who have written or podcasted about California wine from the 1950s to the present. The writers' archives — and the ephemera they include — extend the literary works in the library’s circulating and rare wine book and manuscript collections, which date to the start of the twelfth century. UC Davis's wine library documents the evolution of a genre and of a drink that's both agricultural product and art. This lecture is jointly sponsored by the Bibliographical Society of America and the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America.

The Virtual Book Fair

Exhibitors from around the globe are featuring new acquisitions, discoveries, and rare finds exclusively at the Virtual Book Fair, which begins at 9:00 a.m. (PST). Admission is free. Join in at abaa.org/vbfSign up for notifications here.

Join the Stillwell Society & Donate Retirement Savings from Your 401(k) or 403(b)

There are lots of ways to make a legacy gift to BSA and join the Stillwell Legacy Society. One of the easiest is to name the BSA as a beneficiary of your retirement savings. You can pre-designate either a whole dollar amount, or a percentage of the savings remaining after your death.

It's easy: simply complete your financial institution's beneficiary designation form. The Donating Retirement Assets page on our website has lots of information to help you consider this option, and links to popular financial institutions' destination forms for your convenience.

There are no minimum financial requirements for joining—you may pledge any amount that inspires your philanthropy and brings you personal reward. All gifts help to further our mission.

Members of the Stillwell Society are also invited to gather for special events, including lectures and exhibition tours. We also publish Stilwell Legacy Society members' names on our website and in PBSA. Anonymous members are welcome, as are all who wish to join in honor or memory of someone else.
