We hope your winter is going well and that you're taking advantage of the season's slow pace to curl up with a good book, enjoy some hot chocolate, and immerse yourself in something you're passionate about. Whether you pick up a new hobby or brush up on an old one, enjoying life's simple pleasures can help combat winter tiredness so you can keep up the good work in school. We know college can be difficult and even overwhelming at times, especially with all the back and forth with remote learning, but as Stacey Abrams once told us, "We will all, at some point, encounter hurdles to gaining access and entry, moving up, and conquering self-doubt; but on the other side, is the capacity to own opportunity and tell our own story."
Please make sure to schedule your Beginning of Term meetings with your advisor this month. It is important that we catch up to determine how we can best support you moving forward this year.
Don't forget that the new 2022-23 FAFSA form is already available. Be sure to complete your FAFSA or California Dream Act before the March 2 deadline!

Boost your brain (and your studies) with these tips
Do you know what active recall is? Active recall is the effort your brain puts in to understand a new concept when the information is not directly in front of you. Do you take notes when learning something new? Try hiding these notes and recounting what you've learned instead. This process of retrieving information helps build a neural pathway in your cortex. Ready to give it a try?
