LIFE @ St. Anne's - 1/26/2022
Hi <<First Name>>, welcome to LIFE @ St. Anne's. We hope this will help you keep up with all the happenings here at St. Anne's. Have a blessed week.
Today at school we had a meeting about a kiddo that has some pretty extreme behaviors. We met to discuss potential interventions- however, we stopped in the middle of our conversation to reflect on how far this child has come since last year. To put it in perspective, this child's behaviors were so extreme that he had shortened days at school. Fast forward to today and he not only is in school all day but he has more "good days" with positive behaviors than he does "bad days" with difficult behaviors. This is definitely a moment to celebrate! As is so often the case, it can be easy to focus entirely one way or the other- he's made so much progress we can stop working, or things aren't perfect so let's obsess about the negative.
This Sunday, we will have our Annual Meeting- an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come and where we would like to go next. In churches (as in every other aspect of our lives) we often go to one extreme or the other: "everything is perfect so let's sit around and bask in that perfection" or "the sky is falling, we're all gonna die." My friends, we have been given an incredible gift in our church family, let's not squander it by worrying about the past (COVID has changed our world and that's OKAY) or lazily resting in our comfortable stability (God never calls us to rest). Annual Meeting is a time to celebrate and to refocus. Also, if EVERYONE wears red for the Chiefs I'll get us out in an hour...definitely a reason to celebration!
Peace,
Meg +
