Dear friends of UWC, 

This week started with some exciting news: according to Norwegian media, UWC has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize! (See the coverage here). 

While we are still a very long way from being awarded the Prize, the nomination is such a wonderful recognition of UWC’s mission and vision as we enter the 60th anniversary year of the UWC movement. It affirms the importance of education as a driving force for peace in today’s world -- just as in 1962, when UWC Atlantic opened its doors to the first generation of UWC pioneers. 

Today, we are delighted to share with you UWC International’s 2021 Annual Review. This past year was another one not quite like any other, filled with challenges, but also with uncountable opportunities and “UWC moments”. We hope you enjoy reading about our inspiring students and the impact our alumni make. Find out about Faith’s vision for UWC as he starts his tenure as UWC International’s new Executive Director today, and see some of the challenges UWC faces as we embrace today’s realities (from ARDEI to sustainability). Learn about the growing female leadership across the UWC movement, and discover some of the visionary donors who make UWC’s work possible. As always, we love to hear back from you. 

Several members of the UWC community demonstrated incredible levels of optimism, motivation and resilience as we navigated through 2021 -- and it is this same energy that will also drive UWC forward in 2022. 

We thank you for being at our side as we start this journey -- we cannot wait to see what 2022 will bring, and we look forward to the new stories we will write together.
