GREETINGS FROM THE GARDEN
Hi <<First Name>>! It's been a while! We hope you're staying warm. Despite this particularly wintery winter doing its best to make us forget what soil looks like, we've been busy anticipating a coming season of growing food and community with you. Read on to learn about how you, too, can be thinking about planting seeds, cooking new foods with new friends, and sharing meals with neighbors.
GARDEN TO TABLE UPDATES
KITCHEN ADDITION
Thanks to the persistent work of our excavation crew through cold, COLD temps, the foundation for the kitchen has been dug and a hearty frost wall is in place! Imagine a future winter when we'll be gathered in this space, learning new ways to prepare, share, and preserve the harvest!

GREENHOUSE PROGRESS
We are beyond excited to watch the greenhouse take form, with five raised beds already in place. The space will hold 16 raised beds in total – that's a lot of growing potential! Thanks to winter work party volunteers for all of their help in assembling the first raised beds... read on to learn how you can get involved in the greenhouse project!
FUNDRAISING
Thanks to the generosity of our partners...

Norway Savings Bank
Quimby Family Foundation
Anthony Fratianne and Family/Granite Ridge Estate & Barn
The Lindsay Trust
Carol & David Hancock Foundation

...and many supportive individuals, we have passed the $130,000 mark for Garden to Table funding! Our feelings of gratitude, excitement, and inspiration are overflowing...
we can't wait to share in this space with you.
**Thank you to all who have supported ADCG in all the various ways that keep this organization running (time, expertise, energy, in-kind, donations, kindness). If you gave a monetary donation in 2021 and are looking for your tax letter in your email, search “Thank You for Supporting Alan Day Community Garden”.**
UPCOMING EVENTS @ ADCG
WINTER WORK PARTIES

We'll be back beginning Friday, February 4th from 1-4pm!!! (weather dependent, of course...)

Join the fun as we stretch and grow our construction skills to build 11 more raised beds in the greenhouse. No building experience necessary!

*bring lots of warm layers, gloves if you have them, and a MASK to help keep each other safe while we're working.*
LEARNING RESOURCES
As part of our work to better understand how we can create safe and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds, ADCG board, staff and committee members have been dedicating time each month to reading and discussing texts that cover topics at the intersection of food access and race. We hope for these conversations to unfold across our community, and want to share the learning that we have been engaging with. We read and discussed this article at our last Education & Outreach meeting, and we hope you'll consider reading it, too. You'll learn about Black farmers who are rethinking the harmful, racist structures of our existing food system, and about how you can support Black farmers in our community.
NEW SEEDS @ Fare Share Coop
Our friends at Fare Share Coop have SO MANY new seeds. 100+ varieties – something for every gardener (or gardener-to-be!). We're already thinking about starting seeds for the seedling sale in May... the ground will be thawed before we know it!
