Peace be with you,

Weather reports indicate a nor'easter with blizzard conditions is expected this weekend.  Masses will not be cancelled; however, you are not expected to attend when the weather becomes dangerous.  It would be more prudent to watch the Mass livestream this weekend.  We don't know when the parking lot will be plowed, and it could remain snow covered until the end of the storm.  (Don’t forget our free parish subscription to FORMED if you are looking for something to watch during the storm!)

We need your help!  Bishop Mark’s treasured personal bible was mistakenly taken after last weekend’s 11 AM Mass (Jan. 23).  Bishop Mark’s homily discussed the differences in various bible editions, and he had several different bibles displayed for people to look at after Mass.  If you were at that Mass, could you please check your personal belongings to see if you may have it.  It is black leather bound with a white ribbon and has personal notations written in it.  This bible is very special to Bishop Mark, so we hope it is found.  If you happen to find it, please return it to the office or bring it by the sacristy during Mass.  If you would like another bible, let us know, we would be happy to give you another bible of your own.

As some of you might be aware, the Archdiocese of Boston is supporting numerous Haitian families who left the country after the devastating earthquake in August 2021 and are building a new life in the Boston area. Most came here with nothing. As you can imagine, New England winter is likely a shock to them.  For the month of February, our parish will be collecting gift cards that will be given to these families so they can buy needed items, clothing, and food.  Below is additional information, including recommended stores.  We hope you will consider being a part of Cards for Care.

On March 19, we are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for all our volunteers.  The dinner will be in the parish hall.  More details will be coming, but if you volunteer in any capacity for the parish, please save the date!

Next week is the Feast of St. Blaise and we will be offering Blessing of the Throats at Mass on February 3 and the weekend Masses.  Also, next weekend, we will be having another Children’s Hour for our young kids, ages 3-6.  The theme is: “Jesus, the Good Shepherd.”  Additional details for both offerings are below.

Finally, as a special treat, Bishop Mark has been recording a series of videos for children, on the Gospel of Luke. Each day he discusses just a few verses of Luke and breaks down the meaning. He adds bits of historical context and traditions that help make the Gospel easier to understand. The videos have been so interesting and accessible they have become popular with “kids” of all ages. Stay warm and safe this weekend.

Blessings upon you and your family,
Bishop Mark, Father Anda, and staff

PLEASE HELP US FIND BISHOP MARK'S BIBLE!!!!
Last weekend, January 23, at the 11 AM Mass, Bishop Mark talked about the different types of bibles and had a few bibles available for people to look at after Mass.  Bishop Mark's personal bible was among them and was mistakenly taken. His bible is black leather bound with a white ribbon, and has personal notations in it. This bible is very, very meaningful to Bishop Mark and he will happily trade his bible for another one.

If you brought a bible home from Mass, please take a look at it and see if it's Bishop Mark's personal bible.  You can drop if off at the parish office, or take it to the sacristy when you come to Mass. You can let a staff person know if you would like another bible and we will be happy to get one for you.

Thank you for your attention to the matter and for your assistance in recovering this very special bible for Bishop Mark.

Healing Mass
Mon., January 31, 4:00 PM
Holy Mass with Anointing of the Sick

If you or someone you know is sick or having surgery, come to a Healing Mass. The Anointing of the Sick will be given to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness.

All-day adoration, every Friday in the chapel, from 10 AM to 8 PM.
Part of all-day adoration is to assure someone is always present with Christ.  We have a sign-up for people to take an hour monthly, or as much as they can commit, to be with the Blessed Sacrament. We are looking for additional people to commit to coming to adoration.  Ideally, we would like to have two people present with our Lord.  If you would like to spend an hour with Jesus, call the parish office and talk to Teri, or email her at info@sttheresanreading.org.  Everyone is invited to Friday adoration at any time—even if you aren’t signed up.  We encourage you to stop by sometime and try spending an hour with Christ.
